Okay Ladies and Gentlemen of Mazda Forums. I present you with a Donation Challenge. Let me first inform you guys just what it takes to keep this bad boy online. I currently pay $320 bucks a month just for hosting. That's nearly $4000 dollars a year and doesn't include hardware upgrades along with other associated costs!

Due to the site's growing popularity and high traffic we may need to upgrade our hosting plan/hardware or purchase our own server in the near future! Anyway you work it...it costs money, time and effort to keep you guys happy and to maintain a smooth running website.

So...I challenge the many fine members of Mazda Forums to give something back and play an active part in keeping this community alive! There are over 20,000 registered users on this site...This is your opportunity to contribute and help raise $2006 by New Years day 2006! (rockon)

I would feel better donating if you disclosed the profits from authorized vendors, advertisers, etc and am sure others would as well! Since the site is a "non-commercial organization", of course.

Although I understand your request that information is private and for good reason. I have a responsibility to keep the site online and financially healthy...Now and in the future. Financial stability directly influences the health of site. Donations are made public naturally to show individual member support. Unfortunately making Vendor related funds public would be like leaving our server unprotected from hackers. We would be compromising our security and privacy.

You know we have raised money for several causes...even members. I feel many members take for granted all the time, effort and money that goes into keeping the site online. The point of this thread is to raise awareness about how valuable this site is and that donations play a major part in strengthening the community.

We cannot place all the pressure on Vendors to raise funds for the site. It's very unpredictable and therefore can't be the only financial source. I can't just raise vendor rates to compensate for a lack of donations and expect current vendors to renew their terms...let alone new vendors to join. Whether money is coming in or not we MUST pay hosting every month.

Donations help keep vendor rates affordable which means a growing aftermarket for you! Mazda Forums would appreciate your support...Thanks
