That's still pretty good, given the whole downturn (and Mazda and others being down 30% or more). If it slips below 1500 a month (in a high selling season like Spring / Summer), that's more troubling.

No word yet, as far as I know, on US models. 2009 Canadian models will have the MT available in both the GS and GT trim grade (the only trims offered in Canada).

Canadian Mazda5s will not have ESC nor traction control for 2009. I doubt US ones will. By 2012 they will, but who knows before then? In your situation, I'd recommend checking out a new Subaru Forester also. Lots of space for a dog in the back, standard AWD, ESC, traction control. It's also...

Wow. Sounds like a nasty accident. Not sure I wanna see the pics :( Glad you're mostly ok. Get your neck checked out. This sounds exactly like the situation where ESC could have helped somewhat (balding rear tires leading to oversteer). Mazda, are you listening?

Another disadvantage of the Mazda5: Mazda currently refuses to make Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control available on the Mazda5. It's been available on the Mazda3 for 2007 & 2008, but not on the 5. Canadian market 2009 Mazda5s will also not have these safety features available...

I too think you will be fine for the changeover in September. If you have a good sales advisor, what you want to ask is to have them contact you as soon as they receive the "SPEC DECKS". Use that term. That's the info from Mazda on the next model year.
