2017 mazda cx-5 lug nut torque?

First wheel rotation coming up on my son's CX-5 soon, so I look it up in the Owner's Manual, and groan: as always, Mazda gives a range of torques. Why, why, why... (uhm) The foot/pound range is 80~108. Average of those two is 94. Hmm, that just happens to be the spec. for my daughter's Pilot...

Oil Catch Can for 2017~2018 CX-5?

Just an update, after talking to a local Mazda dealership service rep (the Service Manager I think): 1. They haven't been seeing serious intake valve carbon build-up on the CX-5, but they have seen some, enough to warrant cleaning. 2. He's heard of Oil Catch Can use, but mostly on...

RE: Steel rim for 2018 CX-5 GS FWD

Ok good point. I talked to a local Mazda dealership parts department, and they said they have mounted snow tire promotions in late August. And that there apparently is a compatible steel rim (correct ID nub opening Mazda rim, not aftermarket) available. I'll check that out as well.

Video Cleaning Intake valves CX 5 Skyactiv Gasoline engine

A family member picked up a (very nice) 2018 CX-5 last night, and my ordered Moroso 85474 Universal Air/Oil Separator should be arriving today. Not sure if we'll jump right in, or wait for a birthday (within a month). Either way, we'll pull things off above and below, try to figure out a good...

Oil Catch Can for 2017~2018 CX-5?

Judging from this thread (with video) of the condition of a 2013 CX-5 (with similar built-in oil separator, I believe?): oil/gunk can build up in the intakes and on the valves, with not a lot of mileage...

Oil Catch Can for 2017~2018 CX-5?

Thanks for the info. My Prius (2010, first year of 3rd gen) did have a rudimentary oil separator: a bolted-on plate area on the crankcase side wall, maybe 5~6 inch square, with a gasket. The PCV valve screwed into that. I didn't remove that plate on ours (the gasket is very tenacious), but I've...

RE: Steel rim for 2018 CX-5 GS FWD

RE: Steel rim for 2018 CX-5 GS FWD Apologies if this question has been asked before, I did try to search within the site and also a general google search: I'm looking for information on steel rims for snow tires, for a 2018 CX-5 (GS FWD if it matters). I would greatly prefer a Mazda rim, 17" I...

Email back from Mazda - Transmission Fluid Change

Good idea. (2thumbs) Is there a way to "like" a post? Maybe not on this site? (uhm)

Oil Catch Can for 2017~2018 CX-5?

Thank you. My past experience has been with a 2010 Prius. Looking down through the throttle body, there was always a little "lake" below. I finally cleaned it all out, and the EGR circuit, and installed the Moroso can last fall. In 4000 kms over winter, it collected about 100 cc's, looked to be...

Oil Catch Can for 2017~2018 CX-5?

I see there's already an "oil separator", as the car comes from the factory, shows in pictures here: http://www.mcx5.org/positive_crankcase_ventilation_pcv_valve_removal_installation-1410.html Has anyone added an Oil Catch Can, spliced into the hose between PCV valve and intake manifold? How...

Email back from Mazda - Transmission Fluid Change

I'm a brand-new member, first post here. I like to do regular maintenance, mostly oil changes, occasional transmission fluid changes, brakes, coolant. Hoping to listen and learn, contribute what I can. I'd like to change the transmission fluid on a soon-to-be in-the-family 2018 Cx-5, even as...
