    Not so bad after-all...

It is. Unobtanium's assertion that the kick down switch "activates Sport Mode" on his older CX-5 doesn't make sense in the context of what Sport mode does. It affects part-throttle shift points and throttle mapping. Flooring the gas with/without Sport mode wouldn't make a lick of difference...

    Not so bad after-all...

Are we looking at the same data? C&D managed 8.1 sec 0-60mph on their 2017 CX-5 AWD test car, 7.8 sec for FWD. These numbers fall in line with the 2019 RAV4, despite having less power and two fewer gears.

Took First Road trip in our 2018 CX-5..36.1 MPG!

Very speed dependent on my CX-5... I'll get 36 mpg going 60mph and 29 mpg going 75 mph.

    2017~2024 clear service reminder?

Yeah, my dealer had everything set to 5,000 mile intervals, because dealer. I immediately set the Oil Interval to flexible and the Tire Rotation and Scheduled Maintenance intervals to 7500 miles. After my first appointment at 7300 ish miles, I continued to see the "Service Past Due" message...

    2017~2024 clear service reminder?

Perhaps I should change the Oil Life schedule to fixed and retry the reset procedure.

    2017~2024 clear service reminder?

Yes, I did reset all three minders in the Infotainment system. Scheduled and Tire Rotation read 7500 miles, as does Oil Change which is set to Flexible. Apparently the Infotainment is not talking to the gauge cluster.

    2017~2024 clear service reminder?

I have done this with mine and continue to see the "Service Past Due" message every few startups. I've also performed the IP stalk button reset procedure (showed the flashing yellow warning triangle).

    First maintenance service

I use a touchless wash every two weeks, so my CX-5 is rarely "dirty". After a lot of highway driving I'll spray some Gyeon bug remover on the front fascia and mirrors to soften the splattered bugs about five minutes before running through the touchless wash. A big plus of the touchless for me...

2017~2024 First oil change this Saturday

I'm nearly at the 7500 mi mark on my 2017 CX-5. On my last vehicle, I did all oil changes myself. I'm worried about the dealer not granting any possible warranty work if they have no record of me bringing the car in for service. Is a record of receipts for oil and filters enough to cover my butt?

    Rear window washer pump noise

Yep. Same as on the Forester which I drove previously. Must be an issue of maintaining pressure and/or pump size required to get the amount of pressure needed to properly spray the back glass since the fluid has a much longer distance to travel from the front reservoir.

    Mazda6 Signature

FWIW Car and Driver had the 6 outperforming the Accord 2.0T and Camry V6 in the 30-50mph and 50-70mph metrics, and on regular fuel to boot. I just don't see how the target buyer could drive all three and find the acceleration of the 6 to be deficient. I can more easily see how the buyer would...

    Walk-Away Locking.. faulty or normal?

I realize now that if I walk around the rear of the vehicle rather than the front, it won't auto-lock on me before I've reached the other door.

Mazda Appoints New CEO, Prioritises USA - Wonder If Any Immediate Impact On CX-5

The CTR actually went from torsion beam to multi-link with the latest generation. https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/honda/honda-civic-type-r-2017-review/ "Big news here is that the previous cars torsion-beam rear suspension has been changed to a multi-link arrangement. One of the...

    Walk-Away Locking.. faulty or normal?

The system needs improvement. I can walk up to the passenger door, press the button to unlock it, stow some belongings in the footwell, close the door, walk around to the drivers side and during that walk it auto-locks despite me remaining no more than a foot from the vehicle. Also, I can open...

    Paint / Clear Coat concerns

@ 11:35 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvJtVI11dlE Some interesting comments on the thickness of Soul Red paint - just 100 microns. Apparently this is critical to achieve the right look.

Model 2018 - GT w/ Tech - Cracked windshield (bang)

I dread this happening to me as I drive a 2017 CX-5 w/ HUD and heated wiper rests. I'm sure a proper replacement would cost an arm and a leg.

IIRC Mr. Clean Magic Erasers (or generic equivalent) work wonders on the parchment seats.

    Parchment Leather getting hard

I use Gyeon Leather Coat on the black leather seats on my 2017 CX-5. Not wild about the smell, but it gives a seats a durable protective coating without shining them up.

    2017~2024 2018 System Errors Already

I’ll dare state the obvious and ask if you’ve inspected the front camera and radar for obstructions. If they’re clear, hopefully it’s just a software glitch.

Mazda Appoints New CEO, Prioritises USA - Wonder If Any Immediate Impact On CX-5

The interior, in particular is quite an advancement for a refresh. Outside, however, I see too much of the 2014 car in the profile and hard points. I'm sure the next generation will be a stunner.
