I recently noticed the background change on the Car Play screen as well, and wondered what it was. Realized it's a magnified, blurred-out image of the album artwork. So yep, you're right.

Not sure why I got one . . . maybe they figured after I vomited up that huge amount of money, the least they could do is give me a cable. Especially since I drive almost two hour for service. I'm loyal that way (naughty)
