Look what came in the mail... (rotors / pads)

Any advice on what you wish you would have done? Need to do the brakes on 2014 GT next weekend as I'm off work and have some down time. What did you use to bleed the brakes?

Can I just change the battery myself or does it have some complicated security junk?

Most cars (not sure if CX-9 falls into this group) have an internal memory that will keep all these settings for a brief period of time, like during a battery swap. I just changed the battery on my Suburban last week and it took me about 5 min from disconnect of old, to reconnect of new, and...

Michelin Premier LTX- anyone have these? I'm thinking about them for my 2012 CX-9 GT

Went with the Michelin Premier LTX tires, 20" for a '14 GT FWD. They feel great compared to the ones that were on there. Feel glued to the road in the rain. But in all fairness to the OEM tires (Bridgestone), comparing worn tires to brand new ones an hour later isn't all that fair. A...

CX-9 Is It Good? How do you like it?

Sorry, let me clarify. When we were looking for a vehicle, we looked at several. My wife thought that the 2014 CX-9 was better than the current Highlander and Pilot at the time. She spent less than 60 seconds sitting in the Pilot and did not like it. Didn't like the layout, the way it felt...

2013 CX-9 Oil and oil filter change DIY question

The one I have is one I bought many moons ago from either advance auto or autozone. I am fine with the fit, so either yours is a size off, or their is a quality control issue with the filter maybe? Keep in mind that for these to work best it needs to be completely square. You can't attack it...

Please Please share if you have over 160k miles on CX 9

Not going to see a big difference. My Suburban does 13-15ish city/mixed. maybe 17 hwy. CX-9 is 17 city/mixed, maybe 22 hwy.

    Oil change/fumoto valve

Contact Fumoto customer service. Had the exact same thing happen. They shipped me a new one along with a prepaid envelope to send the wrong one back. It was top notch the way it was handled on their end. Here's the email exchange I had with them (start at the bottom and go up - it's from...

CX-9 Is It Good? How do you like it?

I disagree. We have a '14 CX-9 GT FWD and liked it much better than the Honda Pilot. There was something about the Pilot that just felt odd to us. The Highlander was nice, but priced a lot more for same features, at least for us (we bought a used CPO with less than 1k miles on it so tough to...

2013 CX-9 Oil and oil filter change DIY question

Switched to the Motorcraft filter just last change after using Mazda OEM for first 6 changes. I bought a 6-pack of the OEM filters from Amazon for about $6 each including shipping and now they are closer to $10. The Motorcrafts are less than $4 at Walmart. The Mazda OEM (at least the ones I...

    Oil change/fumoto valve

Have them on both my Mazdas. Combined with about 12" of clear plastic tubing that fits on the opening, it's the easiest way to change oil. Just put the tube directly in the oil recycling container. While it drains I check other things on the car, wiper fluid, brake fluid, power steering...

Jack point for raising up right or left side with one jack?

So I got all ready today to rotate the tires on a 2014 CX-9 GT. Got my floor jack, Bosch cordless impact gun, dug the wheel lock bit out of the glovebox, and found some cardboard keep my old knees from feeling too old. Got under the car and cannot for the life of me figure out how to raise...

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Personally 10K OCI is not something I would do. The manual calls for 7.5k under normal conditions, and 5k under extreme. I have a 2014 with CPO warranty for 100K. Maybe I'm paranoid but I've been very religious about my oil changes. I bought it used in January with about 650 miles on it. It...

    Warranty repairs and loaner/rental question

Is it unreasonable of me to expect something comparable in size to the car they are fixing? The Focus was like polar opposite of the cx-9.

    Warranty repairs and loaner/rental question

Is there an official policy on Mazda providing you with a vehicle if your car has to be repaired under warranty? I ask because two weeks ago we had to have our CX-9 repaired as the left headlight would not work. I brought it in on a Thursday and they kept the car overnight. Originally they...

Headlight out at 3k miles - 2014 GT

Dealer looked at it, had it for about 24 hours and said they replaced the bulb. According to service manager, the old one had burned out at connection. I'm a little worried since something must have caused this to burn out at 3k miles. Worried it will happen again, we'll see.

Headlight out at 3k miles - 2014 GT

Thanks for the info. Takng it in tomorrow afternoon. Kinda concerned something electrical has happened this soon...I've done enough home and auto repair to know that nothing is worse than chasing electrical gremlins, fingers crossed.

Headlight out at 3k miles - 2014 GT

2014 GT with tech. Not off to a good start. Just over 3,000 miles and driver side headlight is out. Don't know much about these lights but when i turn the lights on it flickers for half a second before turning off. Passenger side it fine. Also the bright does not work as well. On other...

Another first time oil change on the CX-9...

You're right, not worth the risk on the filter. Bought six from Amazon for $45 total delivered. That should last me the year, maybe more. No need to worry about a few bucks. Did my first oil change today at 2,735 miles. Don't know what the factory fill is. Put it Castrol Edge extended...
