2007~2015 Aftermarket head unit in CX-9 Bose system

Oh OK, that's good, how do I do that? Do I have to go to the dealer? Basically they said the Bose system is all tuned for every component to work together and so replacing one component would disrupt the balance and cause it not to function properly if at all. Again this was believable but I...

2007~2015 Aftermarket head unit in CX-9 Bose system

So I bought the parts and did my install the other day. I'm about to leave a negative review for our local reputable chain shop that said it shouldn't be done... Got a Kenwood head unit and the accompanying supplies (Metra dash adapter and PAC wiring adapter) from Crutchfield. It maintains the...

2007~2015 Aftermarket head unit in CX-9 Bose system

Thanks for the comment. I had seen your post but couldn't tell if you had left all the rest of the system stock which was the key question for me.

Anyone retain oem mics with an aftermarket head unit? 2013 CX-9 GT

I'm likely to install a new HU in a 1st gen soon as well. Does anyone have a write-up (ideally with photos) of putting a new mic in the factory mic location? I assume the wire would have to be routed around half the windshield and I don't know how much space is up in the top center area.

2007~2015 Aftermarket head unit in CX-9 Bose system

OK I see your old post. Thanks for the info. With the Bose amp and such, did you have to run any wiring through the vehicle or manipulate anything in the back? Or was all your work in the center dash (plus a little to the left for the mic)?

Upgrading from Mazda5 - Which car?

Yeah we have the 2007 automatic and it gets pretty bad fuel economy. 4 speeds, hits 3000 rpm at about 68 mph. I've never reached 30 mpg.

2007~2015 Aftermarket head unit in CX-9 Bose system

Searched the forum and didn't get a direct answer for what I'm looking for... I want to replace only the factory head unit in my 2008 CX-9 with an aftermarket unit and a steering wheel control adapter. It currently has the 10-speaker Bose CD changer without nav. A local reputable car audio chain...

    Purge valve failing

I filled up with gas near the end of a road trip this past week and the vehicle did not want to start for a few minutes. A few miles later the CEL came on. I have no doubt that the canister purge valve is failing to close, because this happened for the first time a year ago, and it happened...

I can't roll down one of my windows...

Hmm so I could have sworn I'd tried thaxman's suggestion before, but it worked for me this time. :)

I can't roll down one of my windows...

My passenger window has this problem. When it first started I ran a store card along all the seals inside and outside and then it opened. Next day it didn't, and still won't even though I've tried the card treatment a couple more times. And I am still hearing the motor click when I push the...

    Overfilled CV Boots?

I had a related issue in my 2007; I was finding grease splattered on my rims and the mechanic said it was coming from the CV joint just slinging out of the boot (during hard cornering) even though the boot was in good shape. They said there was still enough in the boot not to worry about it and...

    Oxygen sensor replacement problems

That's really good to know; I'll have to remember that when my sensor actually goes. Worth a try, at the very least.

    Oxygen sensor replacement problems

Yep, sorry, I'm really not active on the forum so I keep forgetting, but yes the problem was solved and it was much cheaper than it could have been.

    Oxygen sensor replacement problems

So the problem was actually the canister purge valve usually failing to close, which still triggered the O2 sensor code. I hadn't heard of the canister purge valve before but I had noticed that my car was running lean, and I read that a failed O2 sensor makes the car run rich. Something seemed...

    Oxygen sensor replacement problems

Thanks for the feedback. I have an appointment with a different shop (my usual one actually) tomorrow so here's hoping it goes well.

    Oxygen sensor replacement problems

Hello, I recently noticed the engine choking up a bit during idle, and soon the check engine light came on. I took it in and the oxygen sensor is bad. Asked for them to replace it but they said that they couldn't get it off without breaking the manifold. So they say their only option is to...

    Water leak, not using A/C

So I confirmed in the manual that even that mode of defrost does indeed use the AC, but is that the location that we would expect it to come from? And the picture doesn't show as much water as I had seen at the previous place I was parked.

    Water leak, not using A/C

Last night I noticed water leaking underneath my 2007 Mazda5. Quite a bit of water. It's from about 2 feet behind the front axle, passenger side near centerline. The thing is that I am not using A/C. I had the climate control set to Defrost and Floor combined. Does that use the A/C compressor...
