Blown head gasket for CX-5 Diesel

Are these problems only on 13/14 reg cars or are newer ones also susceptible? I am surprised though that we don*t hear or see any head gasket failures on uk cars, only camshafts and turbos.

Blown head gasket for CX-5 Diesel

Why do they keep providing new engines. Surely a head gasket could just be changed. If they are changing engines then I would think that the block and head must be warping so a new gasket wouldn*t be effective.

Never heard of any in uk.

    Argh, just my luck

You should try to get hold of the previous owner to find out what has been done. It may have had everything done. The 2012 oil rising issue would have been done years ago assuming the car has been in a Mazda dealer in its first couple of years. The camshaft problems may have been sorted but some...

How does Mazda activate brakes when SCBS / SBC kicks in?

The braking system isn’t as simple as you describe in your original post. In between the master cylinder and calipers is an ABS pump that is computer controlled and this pump can compress the hydraulic fluid into any individual brake Caliper. This is used to control ABS/ stability control and SCBS.

expected diesel fuel economy on CX5

The skyactiv Diesel engines have been Eu6 since they came out in 2012, but why are you interested in European emission standards in the Philippines?

UK (Brits) New 2017 model thread, or fancy a second cuppa?

I understand that the Kia Sportage now has a 2litre petrol engine with a turbo making 175bhp and I would assume more torque than the NA 2litre engine. If the torque is good on it then it may tempt a few over from the diesel. I would expect Mazda to do something similar also, maybe even a 2.5T!!

UK (Brits) New 2017 model thread, or fancy a second cuppa?

I would be surprised if it feels nippier as it is the same power and torque as before but a heavier car. Apparently the skyactiv engine doesn't need adblue to meet the nox levels for euro6.

Just had 4 year service and mot (bit expensive 375) and they said that there was a dpf software upgrade to be done. I quizzed him what it is for and he seems to think that it should do less regens now but he didn't really have any details anyone else had this latest update and what did your...

What dolomite do you have an 1850 or Sprint. I like the old triumphs particularly the stag. Back in the day i had most of the Triumph range for my daily drivers and always enjoyed them. Is yours still in regular use?

Yes never been a big fan of VW stuff. They price their cars as if they are more prestigious than they are. I think the price of Seat/skoda shows the price they should really be. Now after the VW emmisions cheating they should be tempting people back in but they still seem as arrogent as ever.

Have you looked at the new car broker sites to see how much you can expect to get off that. e.g coast2coast,broadspeed,drive the deal and many others. If you can get a quote from them and take it to a dealer quite often they will match it.

BMW x3 and discovery sport are really in a different class price wise to the cx5. With a reasonable lot of options they are in the 40-45k range. They are a good drive though particularly the X3 with the 3.0d IL6 engine, the 2.0d is also pretty smooth and powerfull. I think the engines of the...

I think that the petrol will always seem a bit gutless compared to the torque of the diesel and as driving pleasure should come into the equation as well then get another diesel. In the U.S where they only have petrol they also fine the 2.0 a bit slow and unresponsive but they also get a 2.5...

We dont really know what the problem is with these vacuum pumps as different servioce advisers tell us different things. I always assumed that the vacuum pump was camshaft driven and the followers were wearing out causing swarf in the oil, and thus a new pump and different oil filter will...

This sounds like the brake vacuum pump inspection and the modified oil filter and free oil change, software upgrade, i had this done in the summer as did lots of others on this site, maybe you are just at the end of the queue. I needed a new vacuum pump and it took 2 weeks to get it so i had a...

There seems to have been plenty of people complaining about brake pad/disc life over the last couple of years so Mazda may give you some goodwill as they must have heard the complaint many times. With normal driving i have always got around 50-60k out of brake pads/discs on previous cars and...
