Mazdaspeed coil overs vs. bc vs. autoexe

MSM (Mazdaspeed) Coilovers are re-badged KWv3s that are dialed in perfectly for our cars by Mazdaspeed. They are a FAR superior coilover to BCs in so many ways. And if you're a member of MSM, you can get them for literally like a grand less than KWv3s. No contest... (Couldn't resist the thread...

    Synthetic 5w30 vs 5w40

I use Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 on my fully bolted, BNR S3'd Speed (390/385 @ the wheels). Multiple used oil analyses have shown that my car loves PP. Others have had the same results. Rotella is a solid choice too, but it's also been linked to faster accumulation of gunk on the intake valves due...

    cheap, effective TMIC?

Yes, I'm on an ethanol mix. But ethanol or no, the stock TMIC isn't very efficient. It's also a flow bottleneck. When I went to the ETS TMIC, I didn't have to command nearly as high wastegate duty cycle to hit my boost targets. Getting an upgraded TMIC or FMIC is as much of a flow mod as it is...

    need more power

Yeah, I think we basically are on the same page. You don't really see good returns on an exhaust until your car really needs the flow--i.e., >300whp. I was just addressing the idea that exhaust is basically just a noise mod. Lots of people repeat this idea without qualification. It's just not...

    need more power

First AccessPORT + upgraded fuel pump internals. You're in Texas (like me), so you shouldn't have issues finding ethanol. So, after AP+internals, get a good intake and a catless testpipe. Then, get eTuned for an ethanol mix (25 or 30%/volume). At that point you'll have 300+whp with minimal mods...

    cheap, effective TMIC?

Used to have an ETS TMIC. Switched to a custom setup FMIC (CX piping and a Treadstone TR8C core) and have never looked back. My BATs used to be ~35 over IAT at redline on WOT pulls. Now they're ~18-20. And heatsoak is all but a distant memory.

4th GEAR WOT Log to Redline

Any update on this? If I were you I'd ditch the HT, get an AP and an eTune from one of the MSF masters. I've been self-tuning for about 1.5 years and have worked on 7 or 8 other Speeds as well. When I got a pro eTune, though, I really appreciated how excellently they know how to make safe...

    what's different?

I'm pretty sure the 582 is from CX-7s. And although they look the same, they're different enough to not be considered the same application by Bryan. You would send him a 582 to upgrade if you had a CX-7, not a Speed3 or Speed6.

    Sho's 2007 MS3

OP, did you ever get an e-tune? I know you mentioned wanting something safe/conservative because you drive so much. With your mods, you easily could be putting down over 300/350 at the wheels (even with 1.01CF and smoothing of 3) on ethanol. Lots of the aggressive ethanol tunes hit up to...

Would you sell just the spill valve from one of these ? (With the electrical connector, etc.)

    Official 2010+ MAZDASPEED3 Rollcall

2010 CBM non-tech (don't need that extra weight) Bought with 23k miles in September of 2012. Came w/ a CP-E Nano and a SURE RMM Now, it's a fully-bolted, ethanol-burning blast to drive!

    Powder Coating?

No pics, but PCing is a good option and more durable than alternatives. You probably already realize this, but you'll have to clean your wheels a *lot* to keep them looking good.

Journey into modding my 2010 MS3

I love my Pu! Um, wait a sec... that didn't come out right... Um, "come out right," gosh, I think that didn't come out right either, as I'm talking about my Pu... Anyways, two words to the OP regarding keeping your warranty: "stock out" :D

    Warner-Hitachi K04 turbo Info for MS3&6

340 at the wheels on corn is feasible, when fully-bolted and on a nice, cool day. 300 with corn is easily within reach for just an intake and a testpipe, but 340 with just an intake and a DP seems like a tall tale.

    FMIC options

Core doesn't cool so well, from what I've heard, but I don't have any personal logs to substantiate this. I just used the piping and got a Treadstone TR8C. Couldn't be happier. My BATs are ridiculously good, especially with the TIGs, EGR disconnected and coolant bypass.

    looking for a etune

Etuners are phenomenal. Alex, in particular, knows these cars inside and out. He's a veritable compendium of MS3 info. You'll be in excellent hands with him. Edit: Date read fail! Hope the tuning experience went well. LOL!

    New ots pure boost maps

A good alternative is a catless testpipe. Solid gains can be made with them too, but obviously a long DP will be superior.

    Need help with MAF tuning

I personally shoot for +/- 2, but I agree with magicka, +/- 4 is totally fine. COBB says +/- 8. For breakpoints, I suggest 5.7, 12, 20, 30, 45, 150. I've had a lot of luck with them. They don't seem very linear, but that's the point. Your MAF table is exponential in nature. Having these...
