    CX-9 Skyactiv 2.5L turbo engine

Those are the error codes for a knock sensor returning values out of range, so I used the wrong DTC error code # there. The engine uses a two stage strategy to prevent detonation: 1) It measures load on the engine by measuring the difference in the air mass vs. the theoretical maximum. Using...

    CX-9 Skyactiv 2.5L turbo engine

Well, I have to admit, that is some pretty strong evidence that I'm wrong. Maybe if you throw in a couple more "wrong"s, you'll have me convinced 100% !! :D

All WEATHER tires (not All Season Tires)

You can be sure any tire banned from ice/snow racing due to their absurd level of performance was not an all-weather tire (which is the subject of this thread)! All weather tires have lower levels of performance on snow/ice vs. dedicated winter radials. Most winter rally racing is done using...

    200 miles in a 2016 XC-90

Beautiful, I agree, but have you driven one yet? I also question the long term ownership costs with that little 2.0L turbo cranking out over 300 HP in such a big, ponderous vehicle.

Poll My CX-5 transmission failed and was replaced

Most people who report serious problems have very low post counts, many have zero posts except for their complaint.

Poll My CX-5 transmission failed and was replaced

I don't understand this poll. The 99% + of us that have had zero issues with our transmissions can't participate?

    Full Transmission Replacement

67% of Tesla's are NOT being recharged with fossil fuels! Even if 100% of the energy came from fossil fuel electricity off the grid, a full 300 mile charge costs only $11.88 (based on the rather large Model S and the national average of $0.12/kWh). That cost includes transmission line losses...

    Removing SkyActive Badge

In this case you have a petty, controlling person portending to know what good manners entail while simultaneously being critical of another and violating the very principle he thinks he's enforcing! Only a child is this easily confused!

    CX-9 Skyactiv 2.5L turbo engine

Exactly! The Mazda 3 came out first with the Skyactiv engine with reduced compression and no Skyactiv header (wouldn't fit). All CX-5's have the Skyactiv header. The amount of misinformation spread by people who don't have a clue what they are talking about is disconcerting.

    CX-9 Skyactiv 2.5L turbo engine

A properly running stock CX-5 with fuel that meets spec does not have copious (or ANY) amounts of detonation! It's only when you load aftermarket tunes, have bad fuel or some other issue with your engine that this starts happening. This misconception stems from an erroneous interpretation of a...

GT - Tech Package vs Non-Tech Package?

I have a lot of experience driving cars and riding motorcycles in areas infested with deer. Do not swerve for deer! The best course of action is to scrub off as much speed as possible before potential impact. This is the best way to avoid injury/death. If you see them well in advance, slow way...

    200 miles in a 2016 XC-90

You can't wait to hear what my argument is? Is that because you love to be put in your place? Yes, the Jeep Cherokee SRT posted shorter braking distances and higher skid-pad g-force numbers than the CX-5 and the reason is as obvious as your lack of critical thinking skills and your love of...

    200 miles in a 2016 XC-90

You're right, and I didn't expect it to feel nimble. But I've driven the CX-5 loaded to GVWR (or maybe a little beyond), and it did not feel so disconnected or ponderous. Fully loaded, the CX-5 just hunkered down and did it, all business and without loosing the feeling of the road. It didn't...

You bet Seabright, and enjoy your new car. I know the anticipation you are feeling because I ordered mine from the factory as well! You're gonna love it!

There was nothing impolite about that. Are you always such a nanny? And more to the point, why don't you follow your own mother's advice?

    CX-9 Skyactiv 2.5L turbo engine

I own one of the early 2013 2.0L CX-5's (built in 2012). Every North American CX-5 had the 4-2-1 Skyactiv exhaust header. Was there some early release version (perhaps sold in Asia) without the Skyactiv header? Not that I've ever heard about. What makes you think differently? And the lowest...

    Full Transmission Replacement

Without any statistical basis to back it up (other than industry reliability ratings), I can tell you from forum members experiences, there is far less than 1% defective transmissions. Way less than that. And Mazda has replaced every one on their dime. All the evidence has pointed to a very...

wiper replacement - are you happy with OEM blades?

My original wiper blades have seen 4 winters and still make clean swipes for clear vision. Even though the car is never garaged and it rains all the time here in the PNW, the original blades have held up spectacularly. I don't think I've ever seen wiper blades that lasted this long. I often park...

    200 miles in a 2016 XC-90

Yesterday I drove a 2016 XC-90 200 miles on mostly twisty, hilly roads to the Washington coast. It had the 2.0L Turbo w/316 HP and 295 Ft/lbs. of torque with about 5,000 miles on it. It was fully loaded minus the hybrid drive. I didn't study it or read the Owner's manual, just got in and drove...
