Unstable Idle - P0101 and then P0113, dealership wants to replace the PCM

Another update.... Dealership confirmed the PCM will be covered under the emissions warranty. But the part is on backorder and won't be here for several weeks! Argh! In the meantime, I'm trying to get them to refund the diagnostic fee I paid, as normally you shouldn't be charged diagnostic...

Unstable Idle - P0101 and then P0113, dealership wants to replace the PCM

Thanks for all the inputs. I just realized the PCM is supposed to be covered by the extended emissions warranty that's still valid. Getting the service adviser to confirm now. I just hate having to check warranty coverage myself when the dealership should be responsible for this. Not the first...

Unstable Idle - P0101 and then P0113, dealership wants to replace the PCM

Just changed it today in case it was that. Old filter didn't seem too dirty. Anyway, no immediate change to the unstable idle. Does the PCM need time to "re-learn" after a MAF sensor is replaced? The idle does seem to be better after I put in the new sensor, just not back to where it should be.

Unstable Idle - P0101 and then P0113, dealership wants to replace the PCM

My 2012 Mazda5 with about 95,000 km just developed an unstable idle on the weekend. Revs would go up and down continuously when stopped. Moving and the the car drives mostly fine. Just started in the middle of a drive after getting off the highway. Finally threw a code P0101 (MAF sensor...

Throttle Body Issue and Broken Tranny Mount

Well, with a mere 65k km and just 3 months out of warranty, my 2012 Mazda5 decided it needed to visit the local dealership for the first time ever (I do my own oil changes and basic maintenance). While waiting at a red light, check engine and traction lights suddenly both came on, and the...

    Headlights Dim when TCS Activates

This winter I've noticed a strange problem. Whenever traction control kicks in, my headlights seem to dim momentarily. I didn't notice last year, but it's hard to say because it's not that common to have traction control kick in, and having it night time in a dark enough place for me to...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

That's the door to access the adjustment knob for the parking brake. As long as you can still pry it open if needed you're fine.

    Headlight Turn On Delay

Your batteries don't have as much power in sub zero temperature, thus the term "Cold Cranking Amps" (CCA) for automotive batteries. I live in Canada, it gets cold sometimes. The picture I took isn't the final product, just wanted to show the innards before wrapping it up. Sent from my Nexus 4...

    Headlight Turn On Delay

@Vasy You're right, with good HID ballasts they should start despite the voltage drop. One of mine was borderline and would cut out maybe a third of the time. But regardless, I think it's good to have maximum power to the starter. Thinking cold winter starts. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

    Headlight Turn On Delay

If you use the automatic headlights function, you'll find that the headlights come on as soon as you turn the key and stay on while the engine cranks. This isn't the best setup because the headlights are drawing power during the start, when all power available should go to the starter (on my...

Color Matches Mirror Housings with Turn Signals

That's good to know, although being OEM parts we would expect them to last. I just looked at a 2014 5 today and realised that the signals on the mirrors are shaped differently from mine. My parts were OEM for Asian market, I wonder if they changed them there as well. In any case, I like the...

    Front View Camera

It's a 175 degrees lens, which is pretty wide. It's hard to tell in the picture I posted but it does capture a very wide view. The problem is that it's a generic Mazda shaped camera, and on the 5 the symbol is slanted upwards. On a car with a straighter grill (ex. CX-5 or new 3 and 6), it...

    Front View Camera

Yes. This activity is apparently also very popular with Japanese Premacy drivers who have the front camera as factory equipment. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

    Front View Camera

Just installed a front view camera on my 2012. I already had back up camera and a mirror monitor installed so figured I'd add the camera. Hardest part is bringing the wiring through the firewall, otherwise it's pretty straightforward. Here's the camera I got. It's designed especially for...

Color Matches Mirror Housings with Turn Signals

@Donewood Yup, saw your thread before. I think they're even more useful on the 2012+ because our cars don't come with the fender turn signals. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

Color Matches Mirror Housings with Turn Signals

Paint matches perfectly. I gave the shop the Mazda color code. Wiring is a bit of work but not that bad. Hardest part is messing with the rubber boot on the door harness. Just take your time. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
