    2013 CX-5 MT wearing out.

I changed the manual transmission fluid last weekend. I used Red Line MTL 75w-80. It took nearly 2 quarts. 59K miles and the fluid was dark, smelled horrible and had fine particulate matter floating in it. I've driven it 4 days so far and there is less difficulty rowing through gears and no...

    2013 CX-5 MT wearing out.

Sorry for the late update. Mazda NA fulfilled their promise. My dealer performed the repairs, provided a free loaner vehicle and charged me exactly as promised. Not a penny more or less. I couldn't have been happier with the result. My satisfaction was short lived. Less than a month...

    2013 CX-5 MT wearing out.

I received a call from Mazda NA Operations. They offered to pay for the majority of the repair which includes replacement of the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. I wrote them an email the day and posted my original post here, not expecting to ever hear back from them. Needless to...

    2013 CX-5 MT wearing out.

I've bleed/flushed the brakes and slave cylinder using Prestone Synthetic Dot 3. The old fluid was cloudy amber color. My brake pedal feels firmer and the clutch pedal feels smoother. The clutch still squeaks but it's definitely not as loud as before. I cut it down by 75%. Furthermore, it...

    2013 CX-5 MT wearing out.

Quick update...I haven't had a chance to do anything yet. I was rear ended shortly after I posted. It's nothing serious but took forever to settle the claim since the lady that hit me decided to dodge the insurance company. The car should be out of the shop today or tomorrow. I've...

    2013 CX-5 MT wearing out.

It's not under warranty anymore. The squeak is similar to the video from piotrek91. I'm going to change the brake fluid per timberstx and see if it helps. It's time to do it anyway. If that doesn't work, I may have to take a stab at changing the slave cylinder (never done one before) or take...

    2013 CX-5 MT wearing out.

About 7-8 months ago, I started hearing a squeaky noise when the clutch pedal is depressed. The Mazda dealer applied lube on various parts but it didn't work. Now they tell me the transmission needs to be rebuilt which includes the slave cylinder, clutch, pressure plate, bearings, springs...

    CX-5 6 MT owner opinions?

Approaching 2 years of ownership, I still echo all the positives mentioned in this thread, i.e. handling, steering, shifter, clutch, etc. Power from the 2.0 is not an issue for me since I mostly commute in stop and go traffic or cruise on road trips. Also because my last car was a 1.6L Protege...

    Burning oil?

Just brought mine in for first service this weekend @ 6 months ~6300 miles. Oil change, tire rotation, and Mazda full circle inspection. Everything check out for now but I'll continue to keep an eye on the oil level.

Last 3 tanks 36.3 MPG, 36.5 MPG, 35.3 MPG, with an Auto

Best way to save gas is to drive less. The closer you live from work, the less the mpg's matter. I have a long commute and simply love to drive. This car just about perfect for me.

    Dealer purchase addendum...

I have the Sport which does not come with any tint. I had an independent shop install nano-ceramic tint on all windows expect the windshield for $299. The dealer is probably not using the best tint. It's a rip off. As for the lifetime oil change, there are too many what ifs. What if you...

6-speed manual test drive - finally.

One of my favs besides the mx-5 and cx-5 was the Honda Civic SI hatch. I forget the year. I think it was around 2005. The shifter stuck out the center stack and was a short distance from the steering wheel. The throws were short and smooth.

    Ok, Gas Mileage SUCKS!

1 US mpg is about 1.2 Imperial mpg. Your 45+ mpg is equivalent to 37+ mpg US. Not bad.

    7500 mile service

CX-5 2.0 gasser has change intervals of 5000 miles or 7500 miles depending on driving conditions. Does your diesel handbook show any other service intervals?

    Ok, Gas Mileage SUCKS!

I would really like to hypermile a long trip with the CX-5. I did it ounce with my '01 Protege 1.6 auto, round trip from Houston to Dallas (about 500 miles). The protege was rated at 23/30/26 and I got over 38mpg. I wonder is I can hit 40 with the CX-5.

Shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear

I've also had a long history of driving manual cars. Learned on an old Mazda B2200 pickup. I find the CX-5 transmission to be the most forgiving. So much that I've changed my technique from 3 step (clutch in, shift, clutch out), to 2 step (clutch in+shift, clutch out). Never had a problem...

    Burning oil?

I don't think this is normal in a modern engine. All my previous cars were driven well passed 100K miles have never lost oil anywhere close to this rate. Has anyone else checked there oil recently? Regardless, I'm bringing this up to the dealer during my first oil service.
