    Rusted brake lines

This start to look like a serious project that requires many hours of work. I am not sure I can handle it myself, giving that I only have limited tools and no garage... I guess it would cause me a fortune if bringing it to mechanics...

    Rusted brake lines

Inspected the car today when the mechanics were doing the brake work and found the brake lines in bad shape. Have a upcoming highway drive about 2hrs this Friday and wondering if this is going to be OK. As shown in the pictures, the straight part of the brake lines are all rusted and seem...

Car won't start, not even with a jump wire

just played with it a little bit more: try jump my friend's car with my battery, jump back my car with my battery disconnected, etc... and it came back to life by itself. Mysterious, but I guess it's highly possible that the contact is bad, because the grease looks dry and old. Thank you, guys!

Car won't start, not even with a jump wire

Hi guys, hope you had a merry Christmas. Here is the problem I got on Christmas eve... I parked the car outside for about 3hrs (temperature~30F), then I tried to drive it.The first try gave me some click, but then everything went silence, no response at all, not even the interior light. So...

Allen screw on rear caliper stripped. What to do?

Yes, the bolt was stripped. Rockauto shipped a new one to me and now it is working fine. They are both reman parts, but looks quite different in quality... and the first one missed the hand-brake bracket btw.

Allen screw on rear caliper stripped. What to do?

stopped moving ahead when about 2-3 thread lines left, then just rotating at the same position. shoot, does that mean the thread line on the bolt is bad already?

Allen screw on rear caliper stripped. What to do?

Done. Now the weird feeling of skidding when brake and turn is gone. Also checked the left side, and tightened the allen screw. Parking brake came back working now. Thank you all you guys for helping me out! oh, one weird thing: the bleeding bolt on the new caliper does not stop when...

Allen screw on rear caliper stripped. What to do?

checked the left one, worked fine and ordered the right one on rockauto. Forgot to put the lid of the brake fluid resevior for several days, will this cause too much moisture inside the system? Shall I change the fluid as well?

Allen screw on rear caliper stripped. What to do?

I tied to screw out the allen bolt first, then it got easily stripped. With a flash light, I looked inside and saw wet and rusty. However the copper washer is still shiny without any green on it. Then with the thought that there might be some space to move the piston, I used the C-clamp, but it...

Allen screw on rear caliper stripped. What to do?

Thanks, man! I will definitely try that. A new caliper without the bracket cost a hundred bucks, so it worth a shot. I will try the glue thing or the gribit kit thing to get the allen bolt out. Then I will come back with some results, hopefully. Will it be much help if I bleed the brake fluid...

Allen screw on rear caliper stripped. What to do?

you mean I can push back the piston by hand after removing the allen bolt? will a c-clamp cause something bad?

Allen screw on rear caliper stripped. What to do?

btw, how much of the rare pads should be consumed after 20k mixed drive(local, highway)? the other side looks pretty thick still. I am thinking they may not be working at all because of some rust in the piston part...

Allen screw on rear caliper stripped. What to do?

totally agree that allen head is a bad idea in this case. Thanks for the info, man. Are these the thing I should replace if I take the old one out...
