Standard CX-5 have a Rev limiter?

I'm not sure about the red line limiter (while in gear) but I believe that I read something a while back about not being able to rev the motor above a certain RPM while in park or neutral.

I am interested because at least several times I have mistakenly hit the accelerator and saws the Tac heading for the max before I got it shut down

Manual transmission skyactivs are limited to 4000rpm in neutral.

automatics I believe follow the same rev limiter in or out of gear.

Yes, of course there is a rev limiter. it's just not your typical "rev banging" limiter. The revolutions just sort of "hang" in place.

I have seen the rev limiter engage at 5900rpm (in a higher gear) , around 6200rpm (soft redline) and upwards of 6500rpm (hard redline.)

Obviously, it would be wise not to explore this area of the tachometer.

This is from my '15 FSM if you keep over 5,800 RPM for 6+ minutes
