my engine USED TO BE a freak

:
2003 Protege ES-T
so as you guys recall i spun a bearing pushing 15psi a few months ago.. well tonight i got home and decide to drive it. and i beat the crap out of it. well i was amazed to see the boost gauge climb to 19psi. which is weird cuz the FTC i ordered was the 16psi MAP sensor unit. so i dunno how that works. the AFRs were in the mid to low 11's. the knock is still there, but not getting worse. also my idle VAC is sitting around 15inHg, so i gotta check that out. but i did multiple pulls at 19psi so i'm gonna leave it like that for the next two weeks. haha.

The Split Second unit after 16 psi just uses whats in the cells for 16 psi. For example, say if you are at 19psi, the afc makes the adjustments based on the cells in the 16 psi column.

You sound like fun driving. Reminds me of my friends back at home, lol.

how fun was 19psi on a t3t4..hehe. i want video footage! when is the motor getting built?

ahh ok makes sense i figured it would default to something.

im having some electrical problems so now im acually trying to troubleshoot if my boost gauge might be off but i doubt it with the engine running... im gonna double check the boost on my EBC tomorrow and see what it really pushing.. wish i had my laptop to datalog :(

so i succeeded last week in blowing the motor up. got a junkyard motor with 80k-90k miles on it from an '02 slushbox, it's in pretty good condition. just got the old one out, gotta swap the turbo, tranny and s***. gonna be fun without a proper clutch alignment tool. heres some pics.

my money is well earned and I knew this was coming so I made sure I had the cash. Junkyard motor was only $1100 I almost bought an '01 Audi s4 and put the protege in storage, but decided it would be easier to have the protege running.

damn why even deal with the carnage and Collateral damage of unrelated parts, aka radiator??
Anyway good luck with the build. I'd kell to have a newly built motor to boost on

Edit: this is a title change request:
Please change the title to: "My engine used to be a freak"

dude 2.0s are cheap...i can snag 80k mile motors for 300-550 all day long around here

damn thats a nice price. well i'm down in hick country so theres not many 2.0's around here. i needed it ASAP and this motor got here in 2 days.

i got a radiator from advance auto parts, ready radiator makes it and it's got fittings for trans or oil lines to use the radiator as a cooler pretty pimp. dunno how well it'll work tho.

haha yeah i went to edit post and couldn't change the title so i guess a mod will have to do it.

haha thanks. heres more pics. looks like it blew from sheer POWA! the wrist pin got ripped out from the bottom of the piston, taking the lower half with it, and then proceded to cause all the carnage. oil pan has plenty of pieces in it.

i am so goddamn pissed i didn't record the explosion, it was pretty intense.

oh i got video too on my facebook. see if you guys can view them.

when my friend blew his accord engine in winter, we packed the hole in the block with snow and turned it on. ran pretty good with the exception of the rod flying all over the place in the block lol.
