Congrats! I, too, feel the new CX5 to be German like. Had a new BMW X3 rental for a week earlier this year and I can say our cx5 is very comparable in all aspects, especially the handling.

Unfortunately, I don't have a recording. It's a high pitch and constant whistle sound (not whining like the CVTs).

I assume I will have some type of reference number once I pick up the car at the dealership, and will definitely be contacting Mazda USA for extended warranty. Don't expect the dealer to fork out anything.

Thanks all for your responses. I still have some faith in Mazda and my particular car, and hope this is just a random occurrence. Still intend to keep this car for a long time unless more issues come up over the next couple of years. I will update this thread when/if I learn more about my repair...

Just saw more responses on the 2nd page. I can provide more details when I get the car back. I think it's too pre-mature to go through the lawsuit/lemon route, but will keep that in mind if the problem persists/comes back. I am going to contact Mazda corporate to ask for an extended warranty...
