UPDATE: Problem solved! I had swapped my old key into the new housing but didn’t realize the signal dohickey was the little thing I took for a magnet in the old housing and didn’t move it. Put the old key in the old housing and it starts just fine!

In sure you're already doing this, but make sure to save all the receipts and document everything: repairs, conversations, etc.

I'm with you on the head gasket. Anytime I've seen "white gunk" under the oil cap and you're low on coolant leads me to that conclusion. Could be something else, but...

Update 4: Until it started thumping again. However, it definitely seemed like it was more forward and it was more infrequent. I decided to change the spark plugs and clean the TB while I was in there since that is what the dealer was going to do next (but not under warranty since the plugs...

Update 3: Transfer case removed and replaced by the dealer under the CPO warranty. Good to go now. :)
