IMO, if there is no urgency then it is always good to stay away from a first year model.
Mazda will surely make a lot of adjustments to 2025 models for QC reasons.
I may have gotten the CX-70 PHEV if I waited a bit longer as I did not want captain chairs for the second row. However with it being the same powertrain and same weight, I would have been disappointed with the performance just like the CX-90.
Toyota just has the lead right now in the Hybrid...
Nice job finding this. I saw it but it did not say MAX anywhere so dismissed it.
From the comparisons (not same day and temps so YMMV) it looks like the Max is faster which I definitely new. The CX-90 is heavier by about 300 lbs. Possibly more battery weight due to PHEV.
The skidpad is .80g...
Again, until you can find performance specs for these two SUVs in question we cannot really know other than seat of the pants feel from someone that has driven both....which I am one of those.
Unfortunately I cannot find any specs to determine this like they do on sports cars.
What I can tell you is that putting the GHH Max in sport mode tightens up the steering wheel feel considerably. Gives it that heavy weighted feeling.
It is kind of ludicrous to be discussing nimbleness and handling with a three row SUV that weighs about 5K pound.
However my wife has a 2016 CX-5 and I would put this 2024 GHH MAX at least on par with it. My wife agrees as well. Toyota did a great job hiding the weight with the battery boost...
As someone that has test driven three different CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus models and also a CX-90 Turbo S Premium Plus, I can tell you that you are wrong. The Mazda does have a more weighted feel to the steering wheel but it FEELS heavy and sluggish compared to the GHH Max. The Max moves its...
Not sure what you mean by this.
They are direct competitors.
And I can tell you after driving three CX-90 PHEV top of the line models that the interior is nicer but the performance is sluggish compared to the GHH MAX.
I hear ya. Another reason I went with the GHH Max. Toyota appears to be years ahead in this area which makes sense. Mazda is a great company though so they'll get there.
That would work other than my dog loves to have her head out the window which that would prevent.
I actually wound up going with a Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Max. (Main reason is Mazda CX-90 PHEV is just so much more sluggish for some reason. Think Mazda needs some time to get it right)...
