Shopping for a used Mazda5, advice please

I love the 5 so much I have three! 2008 GT Manual 592,000km, bought brand new (cloth interior) 2009 GT Manual 126,000km, bought used about 2 years ago (leather interior) 2010 GT Automatic 213,000km, bought used about 6 years ago (cloth interior) Only my 2010 has a canister oil filter. I think...

    Alternative to Mazda5?

I haven't been back to this forum for quite a while and read through many of the current threads, but this one caught my eye and I had to respond. My '08 GT manual transmission currently has 590,000km on it. I've owned it since it was new. I have never touched the engine except for routine...

The 100K (Mile or Kilometer) Mazda5 Club

Well everyone, I did it. Earlier this month my 2008 Mazda5 crossed 500,000km (~310,000mi). Other than some rust showing around the rear wheel wells, and stone chips on the hood, it looks pretty good. Now Ill see if I can get to 600,000km ..... 😜

The 100K (Mile or Kilometer) Mazda5 Club

Neil B, I agree! My 2008 GT 5-spd has been super reliable as well. I'm not prepared to get rid of mine yet. I'm now at 492,200km, and I want to see 500,000km on the odometer. Then I'll see if it'll go another 100K, haha!

    Tire Pressure Sensor

Well wholly cow! I learned something new today. I had no clue green caps meant nitrogen. Thanks! And with no dash light showing a problem with the winter rims and tires that I KNOW don't have tire pressure sensors, I will assume now that I don't have tire pressure sensors in this vehicle...

    Tire Pressure Sensor

Does anyone know when tire pressure sensors became standard? I purchased a used 2010 5 this spring. It had the green caps on the valve stems. I assumed it meant that they had sensors. I just put on my winter tires and rims that dont have sensors, fully expecting a light on the dash to come on...

    Mazda5 Lifespan

My 2008 Mazda5 GT 5-spd manual, purchased brand new in 2008, now has, and I can't believe I'm saying this, 489,000km (305,000mi+) on it. Most has been highway. Never touched the motor at all except for spark plugs, fluids, belts, filters. It currently burns no oil between changes. I believe...

    Yep, I Bought Another 5

Wholly crap Vasy, that's poor fuel economy for a 5! 12.5L/100km in the city I can see, but 10-11 on the highway is poor at best. I only get those numbers when it's -30C out, and then it's still not that bad on the highway. The fuel economy numbers I mentioned for my 5's are basically lifetime...

    Yep, I Bought Another 5

That's about what I figured. Since I spend a lot of time on the highway, there shouldn't be as much wear and tear on the transmission if it isn't constantly changing gears like it would if it solely lived in the city. I will stay on top of changing the transmission fluid and filter regularly as...

    Yep, I Bought Another 5

Hello Everyone, I haven't posted here for a while. I've just been racking up km's on my '08 Mazda5. I'm now sitting at 476,000km. I know, that's an unbelievably high number, but it's true. It still runs strong. The engine still uses no oil and is as reliable as anything out there. The...

The 100K (Mile or Kilometer) Mazda5 Club

Well, andresamia, I initially did oil changes every 5000km. That only lasted a few months, because I was changing the oil ever 5-6 weeks. I noticed that the owners manual recommended every 7500km for an oil change interval for severe duty service. I decided that 8000km oil change intervals...

The 100K (Mile or Kilometer) Mazda5 Club

As of today, I have 462,000 km (about 287,000mi) on my 2008 Mazda5. Not one issue with the motor, clutch, or transmission yet. Knock on wood. A short term goal is 500,000km (should happen later this year). It would be nice if I could say I put 600,00km on it, but only time will tell if it...

2009 Mazda5 Brake pedal goes to floor - Intermittent

Just got it back. My mechanic just re-bled the rear brakes. A few bubbles came out, but not much, he said. They must have been trapped somewhere. Anyways, the brakes are back to normal. :)

2009 Mazda5 Brake pedal goes to floor - Intermittent

I just had the rear brakes completely replaced (rotors, callipers, and pads) on my 2008 Mazda 5. Before the replacement, I'd barely have to move the brake pedal and braking force would start in a linear fashion. Now, the brake pedal has A LOT of movement while doing little actual braking. You...

    Intake Valve Carbon Deposits

Scott, you quote that "... in a handfull of years they'll all have it" .... well frick. Hopefully someone figures it out, or I'll be buying up old multi-point fuel injected vehicles until they're all gone off the planet before I get a direct-injection gasser. Hmmm ... diesels are direct...
