Oil looks good. No sign of coolant. Coolant looks good. No sign of oil. No more bubbles in the overflow tank either.
Ran a few errands with it this morning. Back to parts store #1 to return cap. No issues. Temp remained around 212.
Then back home to get tester and return to store #2...
Apologies in advanced for the long post.
TL;DR
Son and his P5 stranded in rain with overheat. Topped off radiator and overflow. Take surface streets home. New radiator cap seems to have fixed it. Engine runs well, no more codes. See below for more details.
What temp does your P5 normally run...
Son came home from AZ and said his CEL was on. Checked codes and found a "lean" condition (don't recall the exact code). Open the hood and quickly found cracks in the intake tube. Since I didn't happen to have one handy (no local parts available as well) and my son had to leave for home, I...
I had a random misfire on #1 on my 2003 P5. Found signs of arcing on the boot and, upon closer inspection, saw a small crack in the housing. I was able to use some electrical tape to get it running until I was able to replace them.
When you changed the coils, did you replace the plug wires too? My son's P5 developed a intermittent misfire. By intermittent it misfired most of the time and sometimes ran smoothly.
In my case it was the spark plug boot arcing directly to the head rather than through the sparkplug on #1. I...
Yep, ours is stock. If you want to mess with the exhaust from the cat forward, you need to find CARB compliant parts and keep the receipts and other paper work. Also Cold air intakes are no go if not CARB compliant. You'll fail smog with a "TAMPERED" status.
Unless you live in a county...
I know this is a few months old but please beware...
The person doing the smog check should have verified the Executive Order number on the cat against the "approved" list. Sounds like they overlooked it. When you reach your next smog check, it *might* fail due to "tampering".
Did you make any progress with your clutch?
I had a Nissan D21 seal in the MC fail and lost my clutch. Got a new MC cheap. "Bench bleed" really means it's easier to bleed the MC solo when it's still on the bench. There are a lot of passages that need to be purged of any entrapped air. It...
