2016 CX-9 DTC Code P0171 - Engine Revving Up and Down When Idling

The throttle body can use a good cleaning occasionally. This is an example of one brand. https://www.wikihow.com/Clean-Mass-Air-Flow-Sensor https://www.wikihow.com/Clean-Throttle-Body

DRL not turning off with parking brake (2014 CX-9)

I've had cars where pushing the parking brake pedal down one click was enough to shut off the DRLs but not actually engage the brake. This is great for night use at inspection gates, ferry loading and other places that don't want any lights in the eyes of the attendants. Parking lights are...

Engine and drivetrain noise (2016 CX-9)

The best way to warm up an engine is to drive it easy as soon as it will drive smoothly. A lengthy idling warm up is not good. Except in frigid conditions I start the engine, buckle my seat belt, then drive easy. In frigid weather I might give it a minute of idle warm up, then drive it away...

DRL not turning off with parking brake (2014 CX-9)

Take a look under your dashboard. Is there a switch at the park brake lever? Does it have a plunger that is supposed to be pressed in by the park brake lever? Does it contact the lever? Does it push in smoothly? If so, perhaps the innards of the switch have retired and you need a new switch...

    Cracked Cylinder Head (2018 CX-9)

Here is a screenshot of the parts listing for the new cylinder head: You can see how many previous versions this one supersedes. You'll get the current version head, where the problem started, as well as the current version of the short block (the engine below the head) which was damaged by...

    Problem with brakes (2017 CX-9)

And, there are a lot of good new brake rotors available for much lower cost than Mazda rotors. If one wants to DIY, try removing the rotors, sandpapering the surface, wash with brake-clean solvent, and put on with new pads. Break in according to the pad instructions or general good practice.

    Problem with brakes (2017 CX-9)

Brake discs don't warp. Brake discs do build up uneven deposits of the friction material from the pads. The grab-slip-grab-slip action is brake judder. This is corrected by cleaning the uneven material off the discs by sandpapering them, or resurfacing them, or a complete brake job with new...

Tire suggestions for deep snow and hot summers? 2021 CX-9

What does "severe" mean in this context? From Goodyear: "The 3PMS designation is an indicator that a tire has a strong level of winter performance, per the U.S. Department of Transportation’s requirements. Several tiremakers, including Goodyear, are developing all-season tires with 3PMS...

    Cracked Cylinder Head (2018 CX-9)

Replacing spark plugs on schedule helps retain original power, fuel consumption, and emissions. A never-replaced plug can have the threads so caked with carbon that the head must be removed to get the plug out if it fails.

    HUD can’t adjust any lower? 2018 CX-9

I think a mechanical device in the HUD projector moves to change the position. Try moving it all the way the other direction then back to where you want it. Does the display move? Is there any way to see if the projector moves?

Long Term Review - PowerStop Z17 Evolution Plus Ceramic Brake pads - 2nd Gen CX-9

Been pleased with the Raybestos Element3 pads & rotors. Quiet except for a light squeak on the first cold application. Wear is good, no dusting. Grip is good, maybe a sliver better than OE. I check the brake wear when I switch summer & winter tires. Low and even wear. Previously I had the...

2016 CX-9 AC Leak (suspecting upper suction line)

If you DIY, usually the oil is not lost when the gas is lost. You say that you don't see any oil, so that's good. By the way, the polyalkalene glycol oil comes in different viscosities, and the correct one for the car must be used. You might as well change the o-ring, vacuum the system for a...
