    Hit a pothole and now....

Haha, I'm sure it would have been much sooner had I not just picked up my Jeep. But I'm glad to have the Mazda out of the garage and able to drive it again!

    Hit a pothole and now....

Sure enough the "Main" relay came loose and was sitting in position but not firmly in place. Thank you guys so much for all of your efforts. Now I've got to decide if I want to sell or keep the car...

    Hit a pothole and now....

Jerseymods-thank you, I will definitely look into it and hope is was the cause Preferio-unplugging the o2 sensor had no affect on the cars symptoms. I'm assuming this was to trick the ecu into making the car run on its stock map and make it run rich? Noticed when I dropped the hood closed...

    Hit a pothole and now....

Finally limped the car down to O Reillys. Only code that came up was an o2 sensor, highly doubt it to be the culprit here. The issue seems to become much worse after the car has reached normal operating temp. At that time it acts like a bucking bronco or someone just learning how to a 5spd is...

    2002 protege intermittent starting issues

Sounds like it could be the neutral safety switch. Mine has a very similar issue, and I just lift off of the clutch, press it again, and it starts every time.

    Hit a pothole and now....

geomatics_tech-intercooler plumbing was the first thing I checked as a similar issue happened about a year ago. Elbow attached to the tb popped off under boost. Everything seems to be intact this time and still builds boost normally so I believe this can be ruled out. hornsfan-Right after...

    Hit a pothole and now....

I hit a pothole the other day and the car's idle kind of stumbled and almost died. As I pull away from the next stop sign it pretty much falls on its face and then died a few blocks later as I turned the corner. Managed to get the car back home and it will idle just fine all day, it will rev...

Sell, part out, or invest $1388 to fix?

Who machines a head gasket? and for what reason? Sounds to me like they are trying to bend you over and take you for everything you're worth....Just check that the head and block aren't warped and spend the $100 or so on a head gasket and call it a day!

Help me love my car again!

I did some searching and it looks like p0037 and p0140 are possibly due to a bad o2 which in turn can throw p0103 if the fuel cut is being hit too often? But if the o2 went bad, wouldn't the ecu just dump more fuel in as a safety precaution? P0850, I guess I will have to check out the sensor and...

Help me love my car again!

Finally had time to pull the codes, a few more came up than I was expecting. Anyone know of a link to possible causes for these? P0037-H02S Heater control circuit low (bank 1, sensor 2) P0103-Mass or volume air flow circuit high input. Dirty maf? P0850-Park/Neutral Switch Input Circuit...

Help me love my car again!

You're referring to the idle drop I'm assuming? I believe there are a few on but I just assumed they were from deleting the vics and vcts. I will check the codes again.

Help me love my car again!

Forgot yet another issue: While the car is idling (possibly with just the ac on), the car will idle around 1,500 rpm. However if I depress the clutch, rpms will drop to around 1,000. Pressing the clutch shouldn't change the vacuum or load of the engine. I installed the alarm, it was my second...

Help me love my car again!

So I've got a few issues that are driving me nuts and have been contemplating selling it and picking up a Mazdaspeed 6 or possibly something else. However I think if I fix these little issues I will actually enjoy driving the car again. AC sucks due to the condenser getting heat soaked I'm...

    Rx7 fds

You shouldn't need anything. Tires may rub tho, at least I rubbed with 225/50/16. So just slightly bigger, I rolled the fenders and everything but still rubbed too much for my liking and just removed them. I think I'm on stock suspension unless a previous owner installed springs.
