Carbon Build up with Direct injection Engine in the CX5

Interesting comment. I've read this motor is a pseudo Atkinson cycle engine. If this is true a portion of the intake charge will be pumped into the intake manifold maybe allowing for some cleaning of intake valves in the process. I have not seen the valve timing for a CX-5 to determine what...

    K & N air Filter...worth the price?

As you've seen your question usually becomes a he said - he said kind of thing with no data. Is the K&N worth it? In the end it depends how long you keep your rig.

    K & N air Filter...worth the price?

Oil on the MAF is user error. Too much oil and didn't follow directions. Let the filter rest over night then tap and wipe rubber edges clean. K&N does let through larger particles than conventional filters when freshly cleaned and re-oiled. There's no dispute. However the particles are...

Anyone heard Rain-X Windshield Washer Fluid De-Icer can damage the sensor?

Wouldn't the sensor detect full, and therefore be off, if it had slobber on it from Blue/Rain-X mix? It wouldn't detect empty or dry or whatever with the snot on it?

Anyone heard Rain-X Windshield Washer Fluid De-Icer can damage the sensor?

All fluids are topped off when I change the oil. With Rain-X BTW. What, six bits more than the cheap blue stuff and 10X better at shedding road grime on a wet drive? Why would someone need a sensor to tell them the washer fluid is low? oh...

How Hard Would It Be For Mazda To Do This?

If you need to write a dissertation to justify your point it fails on it's face. "Brevity is the soul of wit", Shakespeare. Another point I would make is you might try arguing this from a capitalist perspective instead of progressive if you want to "sell" it which is precisely what you are...

How Hard Would It Be For Mazda To Do This?

Yup^^^. Gag! Is Mazda that hard up for attention, for sales? Would the substantial increase in price to accommodate such diaper changing justify itself on a middle class brand? Apparently even Bentley doesn't offer that degree of babysitting...

    Subaru vs. Mazda

Subaru just settled a class action law suit where some of their environmentally friendly, feel the love motors would burn a quart of oil every 1,200 miles on a NEW car. Subaru told the owners that was SOP and eventually settled admitting no problems or wrong doing giving the owners a 100,000...

    Check Your Coolant Level

To be be immortalized for all time for stating the obvious? According to the maintenance schedule the coolant needs to be changed at 120,000 miles or ten years. Apparently the antifreeze will hold up for 10 years on the shelf, but deteriorates with use. I can relate to that, so has my knees...

New AA \ ACP Thread (with Poll)

No interest at all. Would be very happy if I don't have to pay for these, uh, er... games just to get leather seats if I buy another. In the not to distant future when hands off cars are available I hope the mfg's think about building a car for drivers again without all the bright and shiny...

Need Urgent Help:- Loud Clicking Noise, won't Start

Starter solenoid maybe? If the starter has it's own fuse pull it see if there's a change. Or, uh, bang it with a hammer, see if that does anything...

    Traded CX-5 for 2018 Tiguan

xtrailman: Sorry, I was being tongue in cheek. Had a TR4A with IRS and OD for a while. That was the most reliable car I ever owned. I could always count on it to be reliably parked waiting for very expensive parts. Drove the Bug in it's stead. Glad to hear your Ford held up pretty well.

    Traded CX-5 for 2018 Tiguan

I know. VW's required the owner maintain them, oil change, grease and valves adjusted every 3,000 miles, tune up at 6,000 or you will regret your negligence. The beauty of the VW was it was engineered to work on. But lots of folks didn't. We didn't have trouble running 100,000 miles before...
