I see no reason why it couldn't be updated if I remember correctly in the diagnostic mode there is an option to update via usb.

This has been posted before if you notice there is a picture of a battery on the cover of it indicating that it goes directly to the battery also along with the one in the trunk. It will take a very long time for the battery to die using it.

No problem. Like I said I'm not sure if any of this will ever be useful to any of us. But, you never know.
