    Who made the M5 Tranny?

    Ford/Mazda, I believe. It's a Ford FNR5. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_4F27E_transmission

Random Wildlife Entering My Car (2014 Mazda5)

Anyone else have wildlife somehow entering their vehicle? I've found a Tokay Gecko behind my daughter's car seat (yes, you read that right), and, more recently, a monarch butterfly caterpillar crawling on the headliner. Windows had been up and were up prior to both occasions. Anyone have idea...

Hoping to join the Mazda2 Family!

The 2 is a blast. Almost as fun as the MINI's I've owned, and gets GREAT mpg - way better than advertised. Very comfy seats for the class too. . The difference in the 2011-2014 models is I believe in 2012 they acquired a USB hookup (so you can control your iphone/ipod through radio), though...

    Dealer stripped my whee lug?

Thanks for the invite, but I moved to Miami last year (need to update my profile!). Also it was the right front. What was bizarre was the lug itself was so badly torque that the last 1/3 of the free end was not concentric with the rest of the lug. The dealer went ahead and fixed the lug, after...

    Dealer stripped my whee lug?

Dealer stripped my wheel lug? I'm wondering if its possible to strip a wheel lug removing a nut. The reason I ask is because I had my 2 serviced last week at the dealer (oil change, tire rotation), and they did not follow the rotation pattern I asked for (cross rears to front), since the tire...

    First Mazda 2 - Stoked

Pics or didn't happen. J/k! Congrats on advancing in life, and having some roses to stop and smell. The 2 is a fun little thing. Good luck with the addiction issues. I have had my share of drug addictions, and others as well. Not an easy thing to overcome, but you feel like a super person...

Do you have another "non-family" car in the driveway? Looking at getting a second car

I don't blame him. It was the most uncomfortable car I've ever driven.

Do you have another "non-family" car in the driveway? Looking at getting a second car

Update: so the Yaris, while incredibly fuel efficient and durable, was equally uncomfortable and difficult to drive. I attribute this to the fact that the steering wheel is positioned very far away from the driver, which forces one to sit uncomfortably close to the pedals. Also, the seat is...

Do you have another "non-family" car in the driveway? Looking at getting a second car

Follow up So here it is: A 2007 Toyota Yaris with 29,000 miles. It was in excellent condition, had all maintenance papers, and was manual transmission. I was really hoping for a good deal on a low-mile mazda2, but the only sample nearby that I found sold before I could make an offer on it...

Do you have another "non-family" car in the driveway? Looking at getting a second car

OP here. Thank you all for your input. Over the past couple of months I have considered your recommendations, and have envisioned myself driving around in everything from an 1980's trans am, to a Prius, to a Jeep, a Miata, BMW, etc. My dad never came through on the z06 promise, and I instead...

Do you have another "non-family" car in the driveway? Looking at getting a second car

I was actually admiring the new Avalons on the way down to Florida. They are quite beautiful and would buy one over a Lexus in a heartbeat. I'd prefer something slightly smaller, though.

Good suggestion, Hyundai makes good cars. I had an '06 Rio5, in which I installed the B&M short shifter. Picked it up in 2011 for $6,800 with only 9k miles on it. Sold it two years later for $7500.... still regret selling it - was a great car!

Do you have another "non-family" car in the driveway? Looking at getting a second car

Haha yes, I value the opinion of MZ5 owners because they think differently :) Thanks everyone for your opinions. It seems like this particular list of requirements is on a lot of people's minds, since the manufacturers have made their offerings similar yet unique from their competitors, making...

Do you have another "non-family" car in the driveway? Looking at getting a second car

I will definitely be test driving the Mini and the GTI. I've had a few Mini's, so I know how fun, practical, and luxurious they can be. I will also give a hard look at the standard Golf. The new 1.8T engine is supposed to be a gem, with power output roughly equal to the previous gen GTI. I will...
