How-to: Make & install your own Mud flaps / guards for less than $5

The pattern for the front and back flaps are the same. The only difference is where to drill the holes for the rear flaps. You can drill the holes anywhere you want to install the rear flaps because you get to decide where you want to drill into your rear bumper. For the front flaps, the holes...

How-to: Make & install your own Mud flaps / guards for less than $5

It all depends on how flexible and easy it is to cut the material. You want something that is tough but also a little bit flexible. If it is not flexible enough it will just crack over time from exposure to the elements and the wind constantly bending it when you drive. The reason why I used a...

It's dark and raining, but here is the picture of the 3+ years thrash can mud flaps. They are still in good shape after all of these years :-)

That looks awesome. Now I want to do it to my car too :-P I'm glad that I took the time to write up the tutorial on making these mud flaps two years ago. It seems to have saved money for lots of people :-)

I don't think you need to clear coat the sides. My mud flaps have been on the car for over 3 years and they are still fine. I think the carbon fiber vinyl would look awesome, but I'm not sure how long they will last being exposed to all the elements.

Well, the companies has to make a profit to stay in business :-) The main difference is that Rally Armor uses Polyurethane plastic on their mud flaps. Polyurethane is not cheap, it is the same material used on the clearbra paint protection film. The plastic on the waste basket is NOT made out...

To put the flaps on the rear , you need to drill out the rivets that are there. I am not willing to start drilling into my 1 month old car yet :P

Shelf liner on interior storage spaces(cup holders, glovebox, center storage...)

They are not that hard to cut. Just make sure that you print out the patterns with no scaling so that they are printed out the correct size. Then it's just a matter of cutting them with a regular pair of scissors :-)

Yes, that is true and I agree. However, I am not ready to be drilling into my one month old brand new car yet (nailbyt)

Shelf liner on interior storage spaces(cup holders, glovebox, center storage...)

I recently got my brand new 2009 Mazda3 s Touring HB, and I heard that the interior plastic gets scratched easily. So I bought some shelf liner ($5) and cut out patterns to cover all the interior storage spaces. It was not hard to do and I think it looks pretty good. The main reason why I did...

The back has rivets, you can not unscrew them. So you can't really mount the mud flaps unless you are willing to drill into your car or use heavy duty velcro to hold the flaps in place.

Nope, they don't flap or make noises. At least I haven't heard anything. I have had them on my car for 10 months without any issues. I have driven them on 400 miles roadtrip without any issues. The key is to get a good waste basket that is made out of good but flexible plastic (not the brittle...
