Gas Mileage on new cx 5

My 2017 CX-5 AWD with 4K miles gets 21-22MPG around town. For me, 'around town' means a lot of start/stop and lots of hills (our home is about 400ft above most of the places we drive). I've checked the reported mileage against the calculated mileage at fill-ups and it's always within 0.5MPG...

    Machine gray - swirl marks?

I got a machine grey CX-5 back in Sept. I've washed it a few times since then. I've been using the 'two-bucket' method (one for soap and one to rinse) with a microfiber mitt and then hand-waxing with Meguiar's G18216 Ultimate Liquid Wax. The Meguiar's goes on and buffs up easily (I just buff...

    Winter Tire Set

Finally getting some snowy/icy conditions around and here and the ski resorts are opening so I swapped on the X-ICE XI2s. These are mounted on 17" Radius WI15's from tirerack. I ordered them with the OEM pressure sensors installed, and the car didn't seem to notice any change (no warning...

Possible fuel leak from 2017 CX-5

Thanks for the replies. It's a little warmer in the garage than outside right now. How can I test the vent and/or gas cap seal?

Possible fuel leak from 2017 CX-5

I generally park outside but today I put the CX-5 in the garage. After a few hours there's a distinct smell of gasoline. I didn't run the car in the garage at all, and it hasn't been fueled recently. No sign of any leaks on the floor under the vehicle. Gas cap is on all the way, and the...

2017~2024 Winter Tires for CX-5 - First time review. How are your winter tires?

Last year was exceptionally snowy for Portland. By spring one of our cars had picked up four screws (on three different tires) and the other just one. Both had all-seasons. Probably all the construction in our area didn't help, but four screws in one season is crazy. Luckily all could be...

    2018 EPA Estimates

Depends on where you drive. Lots of hills around my part of Portland... I'm only averaging around 22MPG on a '17 GT AWD (after ~1500 miles). I can get 28-29MPG on the freeway (at 65-70MPH), but most of my driving is local with lots of stops and hills (~400ft elevation changes several times per...

    New Mazda SUV...

CX-5 with more power... someone mentioned a hybrid, which would be great, since the around-town mileage sucks on the current CX-5. Would be nice to see a version with sportier handling - maybe some adjustable damping to firm things up when desired. And they really have to get AA/carplay going...

Winter wheel and tire set for 2017 CX-5

Did you order the same wheels? What tires did you go with?

Winter wheel and tire set for 2017 CX-5

No idea... all I can do now is hope for the best. This is apparently a pretty reputable wheel manufacturer, but there weren't any reviews on the tirerack website and there is no warranty on the finish. I'll post an update in the spring once I take them off. PS: Tirerack does a poor job...

New CX-5 2017 gas mileage at 17MPG city

My '17 GT AWD is pretty bad mpg-wise also (low 20's), but I mostly drive around town and it's quite hilly in my area (about a 400ft elevation difference). I've only taken it on one ~100 mile freeway trip, and even that wasn't totally flat, but I got about 28mpg averaging around 70mph. My 2010...

Did you add extra warranty coverage on your CX-5?

I'd also like to know the details on that. I can easily imagine an electronics-related repair going over $1K. Is your warranty transferable?
