    FS: Canadian EGR Valve Kit

My Protege5 died in an accident a year ago, and its time for me to move on... I'm selling the Canadian EGR valve kit that I never got around to installing, I've also got a couple spare synthetic oil filters I'll throw in for $120 shipped in lower 48 states.

1999-2003 Protege and Protege5 Canadian EGR valve

Earlier this year my P5 died in a collision and has since been replaced with a Mazda 3 HB. I have a brand new, never installed, still in the packaging Canadian EGR valve conversion kit. $100 for the EGR valve plus shipping. I also have a bunch of Ecogard S4610 oil filters, these are...

    Hard starting

So, bit of an update since I haven't posted in a while. The DLC jumper trick worked great, and I had about 4 starts in a row which were pretty effortless, so I'm willing to blame the pump unless there is an external check valve that I don't know about. Since the pump only runs when the ignition...

    Hard starting

You recall correctly, pcb, both the high and low pressure filters were replaced. I'm confident that isn't the problem.. and it doesn't make sense. If the fuel filters were obstructed, I'd be having problems when I need fuel the most (full throttle, high engine speed) and not when I only need a...

    Intermitted Power Loss, Please Help!

If I had to guess, not knowing anything about the engine, my first guess is something is wrong with the cam timing --- perhaps the cams are out of sync. The belt/chain or tensioner might need replacement, or one of the cam bolts might be loose.

    Hard starting

I've been having this problem for a while now and it seems to have gotten worse (possibly related to outside temperature). The car cranks and cranks and cranks and can take several seconds of cranking before it starts. Up until today it seemed like it wasn't even trying to fire the cylinders...

    Rear caliper

Just figured I'd follow up... I ended up getting the Wearever calipers from Advance Autoparts which are refurbed by Cardone. I spoke with someone at tech support (for shops) at Advance Auto. He said that they had changed suppliers 2 years ago, so the negative reviews were based on the old...

148 views and no responses? No one has replaced a rear caliper and has a favorite or least favorite brand?

    Rear caliper

Looks like my left rear caliper has sprung a leak. I haven't gotten a good look at it, but I'm losing brake fluid and there appeared to be some fluid dripping from the brake cable spring, so I'm pretty sure that's the problem. Ordinarily, I'd just replace it and not worry. But reading reviews...

    Hard to start

It's too late, I already bought the tank. I saw baffles when I looked at it, but that doesn't mean its correct inside. Like I said, other than the tank being installed in some odd orientation (which may itself be a defect in the design of the tank), I just don't see what could cause the...

Can you see any other possible explanation for it cutting out while turning right when the car is low on gas? I mean, the only way I see it could cut out when turning right and it being low on gas, but only then is that for whatever reason the tank allows fuel to slosh away from the pickup...

    Hard to start

In my 25 years of driving, I've only run out of gas once, and it was because I was new to the car, and used to own a similar car and assumed the gas gauges on the two cars read the same way. The notion that I should always keep at least 5 gallons of gas in it at all times for fear of it cutting...

    Hard to start

Filter is new, at least the one in the pump/assembly (not the sock, but the assembly thing itself). You know... Now that I think about it. My fuel tank was leaking a couple years ago, and I replaced it with an aftermarket unit. With the new tank, when it started getting low on fuel (maybe...

    Hard to start

Couple comments: 1) It doesn't surprise me that it primes the pump for a few seconds upon turning on the car, but I sure as heck can't hear ANYTHING whatsoever. In fact, I kind of assumed that was the behavior. So when I've been trying to "prime" the system, I turn on the ignition, wait a few...

    Hard to start

I tried the priming thing. I literally heard absolutely nothing when I tuned the ignition on. No pump, no nothing. How does the priming work? When you turn on the ignition, does the pump run continuously, or does it run for a few seconds upon turning the ignition on? I tried starting the...
