    US Diesel's big splash introduction

I respectfully disagree. I don't think this forum is anti-diesel. It's just the anti-diesel folks on this forum tend to be the LOUDEST (and, sometimes, the rudest). If you want validation for the diesel, you can do what I did. I scoured the web for reviews and actually communicated with current...

    2016 CX5 better "driving machine" over 2017

Good info. Thanks for the links.

2017 CX5 better "overall machine" than previous generation

It's irrelevant that Mazda doesn't have a premium brand - the direct competition to the CX-5 is a CR-V. All of those luxury cars would have blown the doors off the CR-V. We both know it. Mazda is reaching for "aspirational" buyers - a segment that Honda has no hopes of reaching with the CR-V...

2017 CX5 better "overall machine" than previous generation

Actually, I'm not trying to convince him of that, because not having (test) driven the CR-V I really don't know. But, it really doesn't matter if emotional appeal (ie. pride of ownership) is a factor in the purchase decision. I think this is a fairly easy concept for Mazda owners to understand...

2017 CX5 better "overall machine" than previous generation

Yeah but don't discount the intangibles. Some people (more than you may imagine) have an emotional investment in an auto purchase. That's why Mazda has the balls to encourage comparison of the CX-5 to BMW, Lexus & other entry level vehicles as per the slew of reviewer comparison test drives...

Strident? Are you kidding. You make some great points.

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

Couldn't agree more. IMO, this was just smart on Mazda's part. Also, I'm sure that their (N.A.) market research provides more ammunition for this strategy. I think some posters are going to be "surprised" when these diesels start moving off the lot. Though their constant barrage of criticism...

Why are 2017 Cx-5 selling so close to msrp?

Precisely. Plus, the "holdback" on this model is currently around 1%. It's BS when a dealer claims they can't make a profit at invoice and/or a bit under invoice - because, usually, they can.

    Two things holding me back

No, I believe it's actually '420 things holding me back". 😉

    Best color for '17 CX-5?

Agreed - too bad we can't get it in NA. The only other color I really like is the DC Blue

    CX-5 16 vs. 17 Side Profile Black

Amen - especially in comparison to cr-v and Subaru IMO. Man has Honda lost their way in the design dept with their econobox for the masses.

What did you pay for your CX-5?

Looking back over some of your recent posts on this it "appears" that you may have an axe to grind. You state some pretty strong opinions - and you have every right to, of course. Your "opinion" is just as valid as mine or any other poster. But, again, we haven't had the opportunity to...

What did you pay for your CX-5?

OK, we get it - you really, really, really hate diesels as you've stated numerous times. Even though you have never driven a CX 5 with.that engine! Funny how people on this forum who actually have (like Matthredsox for one) seem to very strongly disagree with you (and that's putting it mildly)...

    Two things holding me back

The reason I feel confident that it's coming is that (in terms of PR) it doesn't make sense to put something out (even semi-officially) and then not follow through. That would do damage to the brand and only "stupid" companies do things like that. Mazda, IMO, does not qualify. So, unless there...

    CX-5 16 vs. 17 Side Profile Black

IMO, the front end on the '17 is going to drive a lot of sales. I know my dealer thinks so as well. They can't keep the GT model in stock - apparently they are selling like hotcakes. Only deals in my area are on Touring & base models. Looks very distinctive and elegant - like nothing else in its...
