Never go to that shop again. It's elementary mechanics that a broken valve is properly diagnosed with compression test and boroscope, not by switching coils and plugs around hoping to cure a misfire. This shop is plainly trying to bend you over. Subscribed for compression test results.

ECU swapped with known good ECU from 2002 parts car. No start. Like everything else on this car, someone has already been there - bits of electrical tape sticking out of ECU's wiring harness is a clear indication of shoddy repairs of unknown nature. Several wires have been taped up in there.

Update: No spark. Not even once.

Quite possible, as the part of the wire's connector that clips to the metal stand is long gone, so it's ziptied in place but was loose for who knows how long before I got this junk car. Will check next window of opportunity I get, probably in a few days.

LOL New fuel pump relay installed. Code reader acquired. No start. No codes stored. No surprise.

Jumper proves that relays are dead, new relay ordered from parts store will be in tomorrow. Fuel pump has B+ power and I can hear it run. Car still won't start, battery is getting weak.

I'm going to the store to get a jumper for the fuel pump relay output side.

Continuity to black wire terminal of fuel pump connector confirmed. No power to red-white wire. B+ power confirmed at both input and output sides of fuel pump relay terminals, which means either I have two dead relays on hand or there is a wiring fault between relay and red-white wire at pump...

Pulling INJ fuse and replacing it causes a loud click from intake area. Leaving INJ fuse in, pulling green main relay and replacing it causes loud click from intake area. Note that no click can be heard from green main relay even though it's demonstratebly sending power to some relay in intake...
