Tire advice for commute in Ontario

For my new all-seasons I went with the Pirelli Scorpion Verde AS + 225/R17/65 on stock rims. I've only done about 1500km so far and they are....okay. I came off of my winters (Conti Winter Contact SI), which are excellent, so it's a bit tricky to tell how good these Pirellis are vs my old...

    Trunk mounted bike rack?

Has anyone used a trunk-mounted bike rack on their CX-5? I understand there to be some concern with the straps applying pressure to the spoiler and can see why. Is there a way round this, or do we know if there're any racks out there that are proven to work well on the CX-5? I've been looking...

    72000 km service results

Thanks for all replies. I will be due new brake pads next time I go in so I will swap the brake fluid then. The manual doesn't say anything about changing the differential/transfer oil except in certain circumstances. Perhaps I will change it when I get to 100k km. Also nothing about...

    72000 km service results

Hey folks, hoping for some advice and/or moral support. just took my 2015 in for its 72000km service (was actually just over 75000) to Mazda of Toronto. Terrible customer service, worst dealer in the GTA that i've tried so far (of 4). Anyway. Apparently, my transmission fluid, brake fluid...

Tire advice for commute in Ontario

Thanks. I think it was definitely more like a pulsing than shuddering, come to think of it. Perhaps when they inspected the rotors in the shop, they gave them a clean or something, which explains why the pulsing reduced significantly. I will give your break-in a go. Does it matter that these...

Interior - drivers side seatbelt receiver scratching centre console

Okay, bit of a first world problem this one. But it's really annoying me. My driver's seat belt receiver has been rubbing on the centre console and has left scratch marks. I didn't notice til I did a spring clean on the car. Tried buffing out to no use. I'm an average sized guy so it's...

Michelin Premier LTX now available for our cars on a 17" rim 225/65R17

Considering these vs Continental CrossContacts. I wonder about treadwear though. Need them to last a while, and reading general reviews about Michelin tires it seems they tend to under perform on this area.

Tire advice for commute in Ontario

Thanks madar for this. I had my local Mazda dealer have a look at this issue. Tech and I went for a road test and he could feel the shuddering when breaking, on my winters. Said he would take a look. So, an hour later I got the car back and the service guy told me that they found nothing...

Tire advice for commute in Ontario

In the end the tire shop had sold out of Blizzaks so I went with the slightly cheaper option of Continental WinterContact SI. CAD$900 (not including a $65 rebate) with steels, installed at Simplytire.ca. They were very busy, clearly a popular spot. Got them right in the nick of time, first...

Tire advice for commute in Ontario

Thanks for advice. I am going this weekend to get a set of Blizzak DM-V2s on new 17" steel wheels - CAD$920 (then a $70 rebate) installed. Which I hope is a good price. Three more issues. Pretty much a novice at autos so bear with me. 1) The cupping on my summers and what I think is a very...

Tire advice for commute in Ontario

I have Googled 'quiet winter tires' and I'm getting mixed reviews. Does such a thing exist? I'm thinking of those dry winter days on the highway at 120km/h.
