Head gasket on MSP - questions...

I've got to do head gasket on 2003MSP. I've got this link http://www.justanswer.com/mazda/7h02f-mazda-protege-instruction-doing-head-gasket-replaceme.html AND I've got this video from some guy in Orem, Utah (thank this guy if you know him!). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6lJ_3yw_Tc It...

    Engine removal w/out trans?

^ yeah, I think you're right. Going to just do the headgasket. I'll do waterpump and timing belt at same time. 108k miles so it is time. But after seeing how cheap the FS DZ JDM motors are I have decided to do a DZ swap on my '01 ES beater which is developing crank bearing noise.. Back to the...

    Engine removal w/out trans?

Looks like I blew head gasket. Thinking of JDM swap. I've done miata 1.6 to 1.8 swap, Jag E-type resto and lots of other rwd engine pulls. What's the procedure for a FWD engine pull? Is it easiest to pull trans out too? My MSP half shafts do NOT like to come out of the hubs. This part...

Stock MSP boost running to 10psi - help

This morning's commute saw boost gauge go to 10psi. Tried it again. Yep runs to 10psi. It's aways stopped at 6-7. Wastegate? BOV? Stock internals. I don't want to blow this thing up. Car was EvilMonkey's car, well maintained - has front mount intercooler w/ relocated MAF and TurboXS BOV...

What have you done to your MSP today?

Getting into 1st and 2nd is getting tough. I can't believe syncros are going? Not smooth. However, it gets better as trans heats up. Thinking my choice of trans fluid not good. I used Castrol Synthetic 75-90 when I refilled tranny. I was never happy with this in my Miatas either. Going to order...

What have you done to your MSP today?

Drove back to back against my wife's brother's Cayman S (she scamm'ed it from him for 2 weeks!). OK, the Cayman is a beast, but the MSP is so light and agile that I almost prefer the MSP (on smooth roads).

YEP. You were right, dang. It was too loose. I socked it down TIGHT. No more clunk from that link. Still slight clunks elsewhere. Tolerable. So for now MSP Armageddon has been postponed. I'll keep it. Thanks for the tip.

What have you done to your MSP today?

The roads are pretty bad here right now. Poly bushings don't wear out fast, and pretty sure Emonkey did the bushings within the last year. But I will check them. Noise comes from each end of the car. LF, RF, LR, RR depending on the bump I've hit. When you say links could be not tight...

What have you done to your MSP today?

Drove the MSP to work 2 days in a row. The clunk is killing it for me. HATE IT. EvilMonkey said he installed poly swaybar bushings and "fixed" it for him. It isn't fixed. It SUCKS! Unacceptable. If I can't fix the clunk I'm selling it. The clunk fix kit has had some bad reviews. Can't even...

What have you done to your MSP today?

Drove the monkey to work today. I'm at work now. I should be working. btw I'm a car designer. anyway, got really pissed off because the car started clunking. I just did a ton of work to the thing. Clunking in a random sort of way. Over expansion strips, over bumps, when turning, when lugging...

Finally finished the wheel bearing job. Had all together and axle shaft seal leaked a streem. Pulled all apart again replace seal, then shaft refused to go into trans. Crap way to spend a Saturday. It's back on the road. Forgot that these are kinda fast. :). Going back to back with ES.

The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Here's a bigger map. The town at the top of the blue loop is Zanesville, bottem of the loop is Parkersburg WV. This link does a time-elapse compression of the 555. Not quite a tail of the dragon but looks fun. Best to skip ahead to about 3:40min. 9 min vid...
