Engine failed in spectacular fashion in early January. Not in boost, not under load, just cruising along, started misfiring (MIL flashing) and BOOM at 197,702 miles.
So, picked up an 08 CX7 (99K) that had the engine disassembled after a timing chain failure with the cylinder head gone through at a machine shop and an intact bottom-end for $1,000. Just got it for the engine, but it is in such good condition that I decided to keep it and get it going. Grabbed another CX7 engine with a blown head gasket for $150, had to remove it myself and am starting the process of rebuilding this one. Also picked up a CX5 as a daily. Fun times.
Hello, long time no post. Still got the car with 64,7xx miles on it. I had low boost issues due to burnt down pipe so bought new one and wrap the inter cooler pipes with heat wrap because of tight fit pipes rub against each other. I gain 36.02hp & and 21.86lbft by installing a CorkSport Turbo and the 3.5 bar map sensor that came with it. So now car is making 346.02hp and 376.46lbft at 21psi on the dynapack with 91 pump gas. OEM turbo was tuned at 19psi. Done other work here and there but so far car is doing fine.
Pair of Continental DWS/06s to replace two that were too worn to repair. I'm done with Discount Tires. They denied the mileage warranty claiming the tires had not been rotated enough. That explains why I had to do the last two rotations. They were stalling to get out of the warranty.
Wednesday night I hit a desktop-size chunk of concrete in the road. Both right-side tires and wheels are toast. Fortunately, nothing else is hurt. I bet the right front wheel is aimed a bit out now. Tires and wheels coming Thursday or sooner.
