What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Installed LED license plate lights today. Will get a picture when it’s dark out. Also going to order red caliper covers today as the reviews look positive. Will be ordering new wheels this weekend.

First update since getting the car this week. Changed license plate to LEDs. More to come

Hadn't driven much the past 3 months and had completely forgotten about my snow tires being on. Saturday had an appointment at Discount Tire and they did my seasonal switchout back to my Altimax RT-43's.

Due to COVID, they all wore masks (as did I, I have one that is only slightly worse than an N95), and nobody entered the car. Instead, you drive the car into and out of the bay yourself. They also had me open and close the trunk where my tires were (all 4 fit comfortably in the rear without lowering the seats :) ), and I jsut read them my mileage. So they really only touched the wheels/tires. Aside from the fact that they took a while to get me back despite the appointment, it went smoothly.

Will look at grabbing a second set of wheels for the winters I think this upcoming winter to make this easier (and cheaper in the long run).

Been having two disparate clunking noises, got under there today to check what on I suspected. One was being caused by the driver's side rear sway end link lower nut being completely loose. Other was the passenger side rear sway bushing bracket lower nut being loose. Tightened both up and then double-nutted the bushing bracket nut as that has happened before.

Cleaned my engine bay and did a decontamination with Adam's iron remover, claybar, and simple green; finished it with Wizards polish and sealant on a DA, and 303 on the plastics:

During which I noticed that the repainted rear bumper doesn't quite match 😡

Something so satisfying about cleaning engine bays 😌

Also installed splash guards and got quite a surprise when I removed the clips for the rocker:

70k miles and the rest of it is in great shape, so you guys might wanna check this, as well. Can't imagine it's good to have all of that built up around the metal.

These are a chinese special on Amazon (A-premium). They had some open box ones for $16 and they had really good reviews for other cars, so I thought I'd try them out. The install was fairly easy: they use the existing clips and screws and one extra screw and fastener. The fitment is pretty solid on the driver side as seen in the pictures, but I had some trouble on the passenger front. It may have been because when I removed the trim to get the dirt out, I didn't secure it back properly. I tried to remove the splash guard to have a look but the clip broke since it's now so tight with the splash guard, so I'm gonna have to get some new clips and have a look another time. The texture is smoother than the cx-5 trim but the color is near perfect. I'm really happy with how they look.

It's not uncommon for the rear bumper not to match body color on white models. I noticed that when I was picking mine out at the dealer. It is more noticeable on overcast days.

Getting tired of the shiny inner panels and wraped them with vinyl. I`ll think i like it...

Even from the factory? I recall white is really hard to match and it was in a minor rear accident, so I'm guessing it was replaced and repainted.

it is hard to tell. the paint on plastic and plate will not have the same result because the material absorbs the paint differently. at least it is almost 95% the same, even on the black paint.

That is correct. Even from the factory.
Go to a Mazda dealer on an overcast day and you will see what I mean.
Having said that. I love my white CX-5. Would not have it in any other color... except red, but my wife already owns that.

This. Look at almost any car and you'll see what appears to be a different color/shade on the bumper

Come to find out Gen1's have a hydraulic engine mount because mine is leaking. Rip. I'm hoping a "cheap" aftermarket one is actually solid.

I thought gen-1 CX-5 has traditional rubber engine mounts too. Gen-2 CX-5 has hydraulic engine mounts which had been reported having severe vibration during very cold weather (20°F?). I guess that’s redesigned hydraulic engine mounts which is different from our gen-1’s?
