What did you pay for your CX-5?

Just got back from a dealer in KY and was quoted the following prices, both in Soul Red.

AWD Touring PP:
Market Value - $30,980
Savings - $1,022
Added Equip - $399.00 Pulse 3000
Special benefits (color) - $598.90
Subtotal - $30,955.90
Tax - $1,857.35
Doc Fee - $99.95
Title - $17
License - $32
Filing fee - $22
Total - $32,984

Looks like they snuck in $3000 cash to make the balance due at the bottom look like $29,984.

GT w/ PP:
Market Value - $34,660
Savings - $1,467
Added Equip - $399.00 Pulse 3000
Special benefits (color) - $598.90
Subtotal - $34,190
Tax - $2,051.45
Doc Fee - $99.95
Title - $17
License - $32
Filing fee - $22
Total - $36,413

I have no idea what "Pulse 3000" is but it's on both of the documents. I plan to follow up later this week.

Are these fair prices? Dealer said they don't negotiate price but may negotiate add-ons since Mazda ships all their vehicles without the extras. We talked about adding Fog lights, cargo liner, roof racks and cross bars to the package, as well as possibly more than one oil change for free (maybe the first two years).

GT AWD w/ PP for OTD $36,413? That's too much. I am in Maryland with 6% tax rate. I was quoted WHITE GT AWD w/PP under $30,000 (MSRP was $34,315) from two dealerships on April (there was $1000 cash back on April). White color has $200 extra and I know that Red one has $600 extra. So for $400 difference and reduced $500 cash back, you should push harder than what you received. If they don't want to sell the car with your target price, just walk away and go to other dealer. And, don't pay for any accessories that you didn't ask. That's the way the dealership rips off customers. I never visit a dealership if they can't provide itemized prices over email. It worked very well for me.

So you got those quotes at the dealer? And you didn't ask him what PULSE is?
There's no way I'd buy from a dealer adding a $400 accessory that didn't even bother to mention what it is...

Mazda CX-5 FWD Touring 2019
Hello Folks,

A newbie to Mazda Family here. I recently bought(few weeks) a Mazda CX-5 in the BayArea and I believe is a decent deal looking at what others have been posting on this thread.

Details:
Mazda CX-5 2019 Touring FWD (Non premium paint) with Preferred Package

MSRP( Including destination charges) : 29,035
Online Quote : 25,975
Final Quote( after 3 rounds of negotiation) : 24,400
Taxes, Title and Document Charges : 2,950

Out of the door price : 27,300

I've managed to get a 16% discount after several rounds of negotiation. My friend also got GT AWD trim with PP for around $326XX (OTD) which helped us negotiate the deal.

Thanks for the advice. I felt the Subtotals prior to TTL were a little high, as well as OTD as tax in Kentucky is also 6%. We have 2 dealers that are within an hour, and I believe there is one more that is about 2hrs away.

Exactly this.
You really think a dealership pays Mazda $33K for a GT? In reality it's probably more like $23K. There's no way a dealership can keep the doors open making 2 or 3 K per car. Service Departments are lucrative ... They aren't that lucrative. So you really think they sell a car at or below "invoice"? They're going to sell it for... Less then they paid for it? No. It's a made up number so you can feel great that you out hustled the dealer.
The law of 3rds. Whatever it costs you to actually make that product, you need to charge 3 times that to make a profit. Mazda Japan is building Sig's for $18K max. Believe it. Dealers are making at least $10 grand per sale. As they should. They have a lot of taxes to pay, employees, benefits, commissions...
$10k profit for a dealer on a CX5 GT?!?!!

No way in hell.

Dealers make most profit on their used cars. New vehicles are often sold at a loss and the salesmen usually get a flat commission if it sells at, near or under invoice. (So maybe ~$1,500 between invoice and MSRP). If the dealership retains a profit between invoice and holdback it usually goes to the owners, and maybe senior level executives. Probably another $1,000-1,500 on a single CX5.

But the dealership will often sell at a loss if they think they can make it up elsewhere. Such as: profit on extended warranties, an extra 1/2 to full point on the loan, prepaid service plans, tire/rim protection, paint/interior protective applications.

2019 CX-5 Sig Soul Red
Waiting for my new Soul Red Signature to arrive by June. I*ve negotiated a 2200 discount, and a better trade in value than other dealers. I had to go to an out of state dealer. This isn*t as good of deal as some note here, but Signature trim level seem to be scarce in my area. It was tough deciding between Reserve and Signature trims. I appreciate this forum to share info. Hope I*m making a great decision.

My local dealer just received 3 red Signatures yesterday. They also added a blue one to go with the white they've had for a week. They have 12 more various colored Sig's on order. This is the most I've ever seen on hand, so it will be interesting to see how long they actually last. They had a black one the longest, which was in stock for almost 3 weeks, awhile back.

hmmmm... not too long ago I quote for a white or black 2019 CRV EX-L with protection package for a sales price of $28,000. Which they quoted me the out the door price would be $31,200. I'm interested to see how this deal comapres to the CX-5 GT you just purchased. I was on the market for a CRV as well. What do you guys think?
