What did you do to your Mazda2 today?

Owning an NB1 Miata, and being quite literally addicted to the Miata.net forums, I have had quite a bit of enjoyment of reading through this thread over there. So this is basically a thread for posting anything from trivial to technical that you did to your 2; pictures are encouraged and nothing is off the table(sans NSFW content, of course).

To start out...I washed and waxed, and put on the 15" wheels with Star Specs from my (currently inoperable) Miata. Going from the stock Yokohamas to the year old Star Specs have made it feel like a totally different car. I can finally feel the limit of suspension instead of sloppy tires!

Ahh...I was wondering when someone would start one of these here. I sold my '99 miata just before my 2....one day I hope to get another. I gave my car a break today. Took the wife's 5 on a family outing to meet some friends and take our kids tubing. Had a blast. The 5 even got a high pressure wash then dry on the way back thanks to mother nature.

I didn't see this till today, but I got to drive my 2 this weekend. Last Monday my GF's civic broke the timing belt so she has been driving the 2 and I have been driving the Miata. I miss driving the 2. The Miata is fun, but with no AC, no carpet and the floor being 150F while driving in 90+ temps it really isn't much fun for just driving to and from work.

Thanks for starting this thread, utmorpheus. I meant to start one and then promptly forgot about it for a few months until I saw this..haha

I installed Hawk HPS brake pads on my 2 the other day. No different than the stock pads. Getting ready to clean her up for a mini road trip that will include 14 states in 3 days and possibly a stop at Geopalooza. I'll be sure to take pics.

Trimmed rear bump stops, installed a beam stiffener, took pics of the rear hub carrier disassembled, and re adjusted the intake tube. Oh and reset tire pressure and had a nice drive with my son.

Made some oil change ramps ( tight fit ) . And gave the beast some fresh oil .

Today the breather hose on my SRI went splodey while merging onto the freeway.

I noticed that my dashboard was displaying a CEL, so I pulled over, put my hazards on, and popped the hood. Immediately I noticed that the breather hose had split open like a hotdog where it connects with the plastic nipple. I pulled the hose off, cut off the split section with a knife I keep in my glovebox, and reattached it.

When I came home from work I disconnected the battery, per CorkSport's suggestion, to kill the CEL. I then threw a couple zip ties on the breather hose for good measure.

Today I decided to drill my pedals to mount my new pedal covers. The ones I got install by strapping a mounting plate onto the pedal and then screwing the covers onto that, but I decided I wanted to make sure it was on there a little better. So I drilled my clutch and brake pedals and got some hardware to mount it. The upper right screw on both is just sitting there because I don't have room for a washer and nut on the back side, but the two screws holding them on seem solid enough. I wanted to do the gas pedal, too, but after taking a look at it I decided it would be way too complicated to try and get holes lined up just right so that you had room on the back for washers and nuts. That one is still just strapped on.

I'm really liking the pedals I got. They're much larger, so I think I might actually be able to learn how to heel-and-toe now. In fact, I keep on inadvertently revving the engine because the gas pedal is now so close to the brake pedal. I'll get used to that.

Pulled off the Miata wheels with Star Spec on them and put the stock wheels and tires back on. Prepping for a road trip to buy another car, this time a land yacht! Why put on 1k miles on a set of performance tires when the highway can tear up the original works-poorly-in-all-seasons tires. :D

Installed corksport snorkel for the SRI. Went miata shopping. Narrowly missed out on a low mileage NA locally with a $1k asking price. The wife decided she wants a miata again, now that she gets to take a fun road to work...naturally I didn't argue.

That is really weird. Do the other hoses look ok?

The blue 2 got an oil change and transmission fluid flush last weekend, and the white 2 got its first oil change and a good underbody coating of Plasti-Dip this past weekend.

Put 1010 miles on the car in two days. Broke the 40mpg mark doing 75mph on the highway. Only bad thing I can say is the stock Yokos are so sloppy, switching back to the Star Specs ASAP. However I did pick up a land yacht, 1998 Buick Regal LS Grand Touring with 120k for $2300. Going to make a great winter cruiser so the 2 doesn't die a salty demise.

Mine did the same thing! About 2 weeks after I put it on it happened. It was the same hose/connection spot as well. Luckily almost a year later I have not had any more issues with the hoses although that one is so much shorter now....I check them all the time though just to be sure.

I just used the OEM hoses. They fit much better.
