Removing Automatic Interlock

I manual swapped my 02 protege5, but I didn't remove the ignition interlock for the automatic transmission (prevents key from switching to LOCK when not in P). Does anyone know how to remove the interlock from the steering wheel properly?

Swap in a manual column, or take the ignition apart and remove the offending parts.
