According to Mazda Australia managing director Martin Benders, the next-gen of Mazda vehicles will have the design language based on the RX-Vision concept.

The launch of the new CX-9 in Australia in July will see Mazda complete a rejuvenation of its range since adopting its Skyactiv technology and Kodo design language.

And that means the next generation of Mazda models is already underway, featuring a new styling direction which has already been previewed on the RX-Vision concept at the 2015 Tokyo motor show, as Benders explained.

"What RX-Vision was is really signalling the next generation of design language and there is a whole lot of stuff going on there," he said. "You'll see on CX-9 the amount of creasing has reduced considerably. MX-5 is more fluid. That's really what RX-Vision was part of.

"They did it in a rotary sports car, they still want to bring rotary back but it's got to meet all the things to do with fuel economy and emissions and everything else and fit into the range, so that development is still happening with a small, dedicated team.

"The next generation of our cars will have that design language."
