New 2019 CX-9 GT. Two questions:

I just recently upgraded from a 2009 CX-9 GT (1st gen) to a 2019 CX-9 GT (2nd Gen). Two questions:

1) My 2009 had the OEM 20" GT wheels/tires. I previously purchased a 18" x 8" winter wheel set from Tirerack that fit perfectly. It looks like the offset, bolt pattern, center bore, thread size, etc are all the same on the 2nd Gen CX-9, but with a slightly wider wheel now (8.5 vs. 7.5"). Any reason you think the existing winter wheel setup won't work on the new car?

2) The 2019 CX-9 has 315MHz TPMS sensors in each tire, but no display showing each tire's pressure. Is it possible to buy a 3rd party display (either battery powered or hardwired to car) that syncs with the existing TPMS and displays the data? I know there are full 3rd party systems out there, but since we already have the sensors I think we just need something to read/display it.

thanks

1) They should fit just fine, assuming the overall diameter of the 18" wheel and tire is about the same as the 2019 20" wheel and tire setup. This is mainly just to avoid any errors in speedometer readings. Use this site to compare: https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.p...ct2=35&wheel_size=22&wheel_width=9&offset2=38

2) Regarding TPMS: https://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123867367-Disabling-TPMS-2019-CX9

Orange Electronic (http://www.orange-electronic.com/en/) appears to sell the product that you're looking for.

Thanks, #2 is really interesting. This should be a relatively easy thing to implement.

Looks like this is the solution referenced above: https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

A little pricey, but simple plug and play with existing TMPS sensors. Just need to find a discrete but accessible location to mount it. I'm thinking to the left of the steering column, which you gives you easy access to the fuse box there for hardwiring.

So frustrating that Mazda doesn't just include this data in the onboard computer display.

Yeah, I'm not really sure why this isn't implemented either. I would guess that it's because they thought it might be "too much information" or a "distraction" to the driver. I don't see why they couldn't just make it one of the screens you could toggle through using the Info button.

Your world and your money, but why?

I've had the car through two New England winters and the tire pressure hasn't moved, like at all. Sits at 36 PSI pretty darn steady.

It's one of those things that once you have it, you can't live without it.

I have it on my BMW 5-series (F10)...has caught a few slow leaks well in advance (easy to see how many tenths of PSI you lose each day), and very helpful during seasonal weather changes to make sure pressures remain within spec. My experience is the exact opposite of yours that temperature has a big impact on tire pressure (i don't use nitrogen) in NE winters over the last 20 years.

Yes, you can always get out and check every week, but when you have the info at the push of a button you get very used to it.
