I'm in the process of boosting my P5 and for the oil return i'm using an MSP windage tray since my stock P5 one was cracked anyway. My question is when I replace it, do I need to replace the rear main seal to avoid leaks? My friend who is a technician at the local VW dealership is insisting that I do because the windage tray contacts the rear main seal. I'm really hoping I don't have to since I was gonna drill two holes in the bell housing and am not planning on pulling the trans let alone the clutch and flywheel.
