What is the Mazda recommended minimum safe thickness of brake rotors?
(Assuming there are no other problems i.e. scratches)

It may depend on the car model, but you could always as the service dept. After a quick Google I found:

"Answer: It is possible to machine the rotors too thin. Stamped on the rotor is a minimum thickness they should be machined to. If the rotors are machine below the minimum thickness, the brakes will not dissipate the heat and warping of the rotors can occur. When the rotors become to thin, they need to be replaced. If your rotors are thinner than the minimum thickness, they were machined that way."

Well, that's the problem.
It's Protege5 2003 and only 50000km. The Canadian Tire techs are saying that I need to buy new ones, but other service is saying that the rotors are good for another 50000 at minimum (just need to be slightly machined).

I'd like to find out official Mazda specs.

front minimum disc plate thickness 22mm

rear minimum disc plate thickness 8mm
