Marcs_sp20's project SP20

So last night, I got a little light headed due to some alcohol consumption, and usually when that happens, I have these somewhat odd idea's pop outta nowhere :p

Im bored with my car, and it looks like crap, no doubting that. So whats the plan? A cheap respray! :D

I have always been a fan of hitncry's pro5 done in graff paint, so why not do something similiar?

For interests sake, hitncry's build thread

And the car itself:

So whats planned? getting all the dings & scratches repaired, and then hit the car with a colour. Thats yet to be decided.. but the good thing about graff paint is its cheap, you can get 15 cans that will do the car for under $100 delivered, and they are in Aus! The downside? its permanent, so theres no turning back.. YOLO right? :p

here's a sample chart of what Ironlak offers, I wanna stay with a blue..

ETA? Im hoping to do this around tax time, so within the next 2-3mths. Im in no rush.

So yeah... thats an update :p

Smurf. And to top it off, paint the roof white along with the rims. You will thank me later :)

OMG - an update!

The plastidip bug hit again, so dipped a couple more parts overnight, being the AutoExe grille & painted centre dash piece. This morning I removed all the CF Vinyl (dash pieces, eyelids & on passenger crash pad) as im over the look.

This evening consisted of pulling the bumper & headlights off, no biggy, all done in 30mins :p

Plan is to paint in the headlight innards BLAACCK, and to also replace the broken headlight housing with one I got from Aaron a couple months ago (and is regretting it now :p)

I've also decided to switch back to normal headlight bulbs, so to go in tomorrow are some new Narva Plus50 H7's.

Then all after that, put it all back together and take some piccies :D

The whole respray idea has been put on the backburner for a little while, there is a company on the sunshine coast thats due to open its doors at the end of the month that specialises in a liquid wrap, at 2/3'rds the price of plastidip. Something Im waiting on seeing some reviews on :)

So, after a late start, I got both headlights cracked open in an hour: 50mins on the right light, 10mins on the left :p

a quick sand with 180 grit sandpaper, 3 coats of high temp paint and they were done! Took all up around 3.5 hours to get it all back together:

Gave the intake a clean up while it was, had moss growing inside

Did some rushed photos this evening all done and dusted:

Tomorrow nights job will be to re-adjust the left headlight up, and thats it.

Everyone seems to be selling up... I just seem to keep buying wheels! :p

Bought a set of Enkei RPM2's in 17x7 size. the paint is flaking off, so im in 3 minds: paint, powdercoat or plastidip (well, a newly formed QLD company called Evolved Coatings)

Shall be picking them up tomorrow afternoon, but for now the ebay pic:

And what they look like on a 323:

So, update... :)

I got sick & tired coating on paint stripper & scraping, so by chance my old man was getting some of my brothers boat bits sandblasted, so I got the wheels done as well. cost? Carton of XXXX... Winner! :D

Last couple nights between baby duties I have cleaned them up with wax & grease remover, gave them both 2 coats of primer. This arvo I got stuck into 2 rims, both wheels receiving 3 coats of Gunmetal Grey, so tomorrow will hit them with a couple coats of clear

Apart from the wheels, the list to do:

Buy tyres, get them mounted on the Enkei's
Find Enkei centre caps
Fit Cusco Coilovers (To be Shipped :D)
Fit Mazda 6 Front Brakes
Fit Cusco Lower tie bar

Hoping to have it all done within a couple weeks :D

So last Thursday, this happened:

This morning I got to work and was greeted to a 34kg box:

Everyone suspected Aaron was in the box so I gave him some breathing holes & a drink :p

Got home, put the box in the garage and I came back and found that Aaron had got himself free, and left the box full of foam! :p

No, not really, they contained these beauties :D Cusco Vacanza adjustable Coilovers :D

Hopefully Sunday I can get them in nthe car, as I suspect my rear struts have let go, so really perfect timing!

So this morning I headed to my parents place and the old boy and I got stuck into the coilovers

20mins and both rear struts were out

As per aaron's original specs, car sits about 5mm lower, but the ride is 200% better and hitting corners is just plain awesome! :D

Suspension setup = complete!

Car looks great, I don't know how I didn't look at this thread yet. I'm loving the midnight blue and you definitely make me want to get the JDM tails.

Its been 3 months since the last update, and there has been no changes apart from taking the subaru lip off, im getting old :p

I still take the odd photo of it still, this being the latest:

IMG_6112.jpg

There is one small thing, after cleaning out the garage today, I found some centre caps from my j48 SP20 wheels, and thought I would see if they fit...and they do, just!

IMG_9818.jpg

IMG_9821.jpg

As I only have 3, Ive ordered a set off ebay and they should be here within a week or two, so will play around with the current ones, just to see what paint colour works best..

Apart from that, its been 20mths since FS-ZE went in back in June 2012, and have only managed to drive 13,000 in that time, I just dont drive the car no more, a tank of fuel lasts 3-4 weeks :p

So on the weekend, I purchased front and rear seats out of an 05 WRX Sedan that a mates had since he sold his rexy, so I snatched it up for $250 :D Apart from a slight tear in the passenger seat, they are in pretty mint condition :D

The Tetris game I had to play to get it all in :p

All laid out

Drivers seat in!

20141006_081818.jpg

Pretty much all that needs doing to fit them is swap over seat belt anchor point, bend the front tabs slightly, and with some bodily twisting and turning, they bolt in :D

I also purchased the rear seat out of Kris/ice88's SP20, and plan on dying the grey fabric to match the fronts

20141006_205754.jpg

20141007_123400.jpg

Final Verdict: The seats sit about 15-20mm higher than stock seats (a little lower than when I had the autotechnica race seats on recaro rails) but the bolsters keep you firmly planted :) And with summer and boiling temps just around teh corner, I wont burn my ass like i did on the leather seats :p

Apart from that, nothings changed, checked the odometer yesterday and have done 16,400kms since the motor went in 2 years 4 months ago, I hardly drive the thing! Hopefully tomorrow night I will take some proper photos, but yeah you get the drill :)

Dang man, such a clean P5!! Loving all the mods, very clean! Did you ever manage to get the rear seats in? It's been quite awhile any other updates?? :)

For a little while now I have been on the search for a new set of wheels, something a little wider and light, so I decided to stay with what I have got.So on the weekend I plastidipped the Enkei's...

IMG_9512.jpg

IMG_9517.jpg

IMG_9521.jpg

And did 1 coat of plasti-dips copper metalizer for that dark bronze look

IMG_9525.jpg

after this I unbagged the brakes, peeled off the excess dip from the tyre wall and gave the car its first bath in over 6mths :p

IMG_9550_1.jpg

IMG_9551.jpg

IMG_9540.jpg

So all up I used 3 cans of the dupli-color black & quarter can of the copper metalizer, total cost was $85 ;)
