KLZE curve neck Vs. KLZE Straight neck

in hindsight it might have been better to get a straight neck ZE, sell the manifold and buy a US millenia manifold and cap the egr port, or find a curve neck ze manifold. That way u would have known for sure what you have and would start with the KL31 cams, flat pistons, kl31-101 and kl31-1a1 heads and kl31 TB

why not check the block for a # then you will know the block/ bottom end is ZE or DE, i have read that Mazda did in fact match square intake ports to oval IM.

Well I already know it's a DE block from having it open and looking at the piston tops. And I think you have the ports backwards, I've seen (such as my motor) oval head ports and square IM runners, but not the other way around.

It's all good though, I'm really not worried about it anymore. I don't have a KLZE, I have a JDM KLDE mutt basically. Which is fine with me, this mutt is better for reliability since it has the lower compression pistons and stronger DE heads. It's all good. :)

Oh- and it seems the easiest way to tell a curve neck KLZE from a JDM "Millenia" motor is that the KLZE has the tube along the front valve cover.

we just pulled apart Pile_of_rd1's curved neck ZE he was running. no egr curved neck mani, kl101 heads. with kl01 cams. but it did have the high comp pistons.

for reference cause i dont think it was mentioned. here in the states. only the 95 milly's had factory square port heads. the other years had oval port heads, but still used the square intake mani ports.

mazda just liked to mess with us alot. hence the 97+ blocks not having oil squirters. 98+ were lighter cranks, but not forged like the earlier ones. and we havent even touched on the KF's yet. lol

I hope you guys don't mind me resurrecting a topic from 4 years ago but I'm currently trying to source a KL-ZE here in the Philippines so I've been researching more on the KL-ZE 200hp version. It seems that a certain chassis code of the JDM Millenia 25M Sport has the 200hp version. Same with the Mazda Capella Wagon V-RX Sport.

For the Millenia, the difference is the model. The GF-TA5P (up to 2001 model) has the 10:1 compression ratio pistons if the Goo-Net Exchange specs are correct. A different model of the same Millenia 25M (2002 model) which has a code of TA-TA5P has the lower compression 9.2:1 pistons and a rating of 190hp. Both are automatic.

Low comp version

I already gave the model codes to an importer here so if they're able to find one I'll go buy a KL-ZE and then I can compare cams with my KF-ZE Type R which has the same KL-31 cams as the 200 hp KL-ZE.
