Just got my p5!

:
2002 Mazda Protege5
Hey everyone,

Just purchased my first car and its a Protege5. Has 130,xxx miles, clean 17" RUFF's, upgraded pioneer radio, tints and all maintenance that needs to be done at 100k (timing belt, etc.) has been done. Paid 3,400.

I have two questions about the car though:

The roof rack was attempted to be removed from one of the owners (not the previous) and this was leftover. If you guys can tell me what needs to be bought to complete the rack again, that would be great.

My second area of concern is the Ac. It blows cold and the light is green on setting one, but once I go to 2,3, or 4 the light turns off and it no longer blows cold. Any ideas?

Thanks!

(sorry for Image rotation...)

I see your headlight plexiglass is fogged like mine. We were able to buff that out with a lot of work. A year later and it needs doing again. You have to keep up on it as the stuff gets old and brittle.

Congrats on a nice ride for your first car. That is way nicer than what I had back in the day, and the price is decent. :)

The A/C problem definitely sounds like the selector switch. I just replaced one of these in a Ford Focus. It's trivial and not expensive for the part either.

Well for the roof rack you would need the whole setup. All you have is the sliding rails, your missing the side rail molding to cover the sliding rails then you need the caps to hide the sliding rails.

Nice car man. Very similar to mine when I first got it, cept you have the style of rims I've been after! Any plans for mods?

Thanks! Right now I'm just trying to get my car back up to speed. So far I fixed a busted headlight, the AC and Im Leaning towards replenishing the roof rack again. My car was pretty well maintained from the PO so I have more money to do the things I need. My first plan is to probably get a new intake.
