The service manual says to place the jack stands on the side sills. Does anyone happen to have, or can someone take, a photo of which areas the service manual diagrams are trying to show?

Gidday, If I remember I'll take some photos tomorrow of my car on stands

The rear jack point is directly in front of the trailing arm mounts,

The front point is a little harder to figure out in that drawing. I've used the body seam that runs the length of the car about 10cm in from the side skirt.

I used the proper rear mounting points but my car is so rusty that the T-stands punched right through the metal.

I can't use the cars scissor jack at the proper lifting point either.

It also punched right through the body.

I don't know what will happen if I need to change a tire on the side of the road?

Pics from a slightly less rusty car :) PCB, a big steel plate between the jack and the car will stop the jack punching through

This is the front stand point (I think)

This is the rear stand point
I'm not using them because I didn't know they existed until yesterday :D

It's just surface rust.

It cleans up nicely.

I did have a piece of metal welded in so my trailing arm doesn't break off.

With that much rust in your car I'd park it permanently... j/s

It really sucks because the car runs perfectly and doesn't burn a drop of oil.

I've got CAA in case the wheels break off or something but if I'm ever in an accident the car is gonna crumble.

subframe option?...................might be option for krusty cars. Scissor jack should work there too......Depending on what surface car is on tho..............

Yeah, that's where I put my T-stands now.

I guess I would try to use the scissor jack there too if I ever needed to change a flat on the side of the road.

I don't know if the whole rear end of the car would lift off the ground though.
That would be dangerous.

I've always used the pinch welds. Where the little "divots" are in the front and rear ends of the pinch weld. Never had a problem. Most manufacturers specify those as the jacking points, hence the divots.

Yeah, me too.
The scissor jacks have a slot in them to fit the pinch weld.
It really helps to keep the jack from slipping.

Unfortunately, on my car, those lift points punched right in. Lol

Fricken rust...
