How To: Ebay FMIC

cool thanks for that.. so that kit everyone including me keeps linking to on ebay is good?

Nothing available is going to have EVERYTHING you need unless you find one someone is selling, or buy the one from Jen (username escapes me) that is basically a DIY kit that she assembled, and then put like a $200 profit margin on for the same instructions as are in this thread (and thats mostly the reason I MADE this thread).

But yes, the one you see linked here time after time will get you 90% of the way there, then you can pick up a handlful of couplers besides and you're off and running.

This is a pain in the arse 2 days on it and still not completed my biggest issue is my FMIC 27 x 7 x 2.5 it either sits too low or the pipes hits my fog lights or the bumper cover wont go back on cuz its out too far... grrr what a pain

I did NO trimming of my bumper and was able to route around em without an issue. It took me longer to mount the core (fishing the bolts into the crash bar without cutting big holes in it) than it did to cut and route the pipes.

On the pass side, I did go under the core support because it was FAR easier (not recommended if you're lowered or do off-roading but I was on Spool drop springs), but on the driver's I went around the outside and up the CAI hole under the factory airbox.

this is how my fmic was mounted

You probably want to flip the BOV and your MAF so you're not blowing off metered air. Otherwise every time you come to a stop its going to die on you.

yea i actually realized that when i posted the pic thing was since i had it reversed the flowmeter flow arrow was on reversed too and i drove it like that .. i hope that didnt damage the air flow meter

Not sure if I missed this somewhere in this thread, but is bar/plate or tube/fin a better design? Pros and Cons would be appreciated.

Bar and plate flows better and is stronger. Tube and fin is what oem usually uses because it cools a little more efficiently.

Im thinking about using this intercooler to build a fmic trying see what people think

Im trying to stay with the same pipe routing i had made for my previous fmic that i sold where it route around the radiator and stock intercooler since i already cut the rad support

Anyone have pictures of their cold pipe going next to the radiator similar to jdmdikk's? (post 410)

Preferably with the mishimoto radiator. I'm planning to go this route, but installing the mishimoto rad at the same time with slim fans.
