Front in clunking/creaking.. not stabilizer bushings!

there is a creaking sound coming from my 03 P5 when i turn, go over bumps etc. i replaced the stabilizer bushing thinking it was that again, but nope.. still there. checked for play but it's all good. Sometimes i hear the creak/clunk when just getting in and out of the car.
Any suggestions on things to check?
A bearing was recently replaced on the same side, but i think the problem has been on again/off again for a while.
the outside temperature also affects it, it is gone in colder weather and worse in hot weather.

Just wanted your opinions before i take it in for a diagnosis, will save a few $ anyway.

thanks!

My struts come loose every few months and cause weird creaking noises. Lowered car parking in an unpaved parking lot really puts one's suspension to the test.

didn't think to check the struts, will do!

to previous comments, yes i did grease them up :)

and yes stabilizer links/bushings are all in good order.

i am wondering if it could be the ball joint... but there's no play so it's hard to say right now
