Front Bumper Cover Lower Tabs Broken Off

😧 I was trying to take off my front bumper cover on my 2008 Mazda5 but the 8 bolts on the front lip underside were so rusted that in trying to unscrew them, the tabs on the bumper cover tabs with the holes in them for the screws broke/twisted off. Is there any way to repair them or do I now need to find a replacement cover from a boneyard that has the intact tabs? I'm concerned that leaving this unsecured will allow wind to rush in at highway speeds and cause other noises and vibrations and rattles. THANKS!

I've had that happen to one of my previous cars. What I did was melt the plastic back together. If that isn't possible, I would simply drill a new hole in the bumper cover and the bottom of the front lip and either try to reuse the metal clip and screw, or just zip-tie it. A replacement bumper cover would be my last resort.

SEM bumper cover plastic repair is an option to rebuild tabs. You may want to go over to a body shop and ask what they use, this is not an uncommon issue.
