Creaking / groaning from front suspension (video) -- Help me diagnose?

Hi all, enjoying my new (used) Mazda but I have a nagging concern I’m hoping you guys can help with. The car creaks and groans a lot when parking or turning the wheel sharply at low speeds. It can also happen when I brake. I took it to a local mechanic yesterday and he thinks it’s the weight shifting onto the bushings and that there’s nothing wrong with it that he can tell.. and that a Mazda dealer would be the next step. 2017, 40K miles, by the way. It's a CX-3 but not much activity in that sub so I hope ya'll can help!

Video:

Does it sound like my mechanic got it right? Have any of you experienced this noise in your Mazda? If so, are there any things I can do myself, like spray WD-40 on the bushings, etc.?

Thanks so much for your help!

If you still have new car warranty, you should take your CX-3 to a Mazda dealer checking it out. There’re multiple issues which may cause front suspension noises on earlier gen-2 CX-5 so as CX-3. Check out this TSB 02-002/18:

Right after I got my 2014, I complained to the dealer about a groaning sound from the front end while going down a road that that slight undulations, not even bumps. It's been a long time but I remember it being worse when cold as I noticed it early morning on the way to work. Anyway, there was a TSB and they changed out the lower control arm bushings which cured the problem.

My CX-5 does the exact same thing.
Also curious what is causing this...
Hey, I took it to Mazda. Pretty crappy experience where I waited in the showroom and didn't get to speak to the mechanic so I had get infrequent updates from an 'intake specialist.' Anyways, she said they couldn't hear the noise and then they did, and they tightened some bolt and now it's gone. Well wouldn't you know 20 minutes later the noise is back. I think he just couldn't hear it because he wasn't driving on a hill (I live in SF so lots of those).

My warranty is up in 2 weeks so I think I'm gonna throw in the towel. May try WD-40 but otherwise will just ignore it.

You may or may not be using the term WD-40 as a generic term for a lubricant.. but WD-40 itself is NOT a lubricant, it is a solvent. Yeah yeah darn English language and chemical properties. Find yourself a quality silicone spray. If you MUST use WD-40 branded here is one:

https://smile .amazon.com/WD-40-Specialist-Resistant-Silicone-Lubricant/dp/B07Q2D9BT5/

as far as 2 weeks and the warranty.. I'd say either get a better audio recording / video and return to the same dealer OR take it to another dealer and start the process over.

So even though you showed them the TSB, the dealer couldn’t actually follow the procedure and fix your problem? Pity!

Thx - appreciate the help!
By applying the silicon lubricant, you only mask the problem temporarily as your suspension is not supposed to have creaking noise. This’s something I’d use only if I’m selling the car which is having suspension noise.

Yeah, that’s my option if the Mazda techs still can’t figure it out. I’m at the dealer now and we just did a ride so should have good news soon

He was pretty cool and he heard the noise. I showed him the TSB but it's less of a knock or click and more of a creak or groan. He thinks its the left lower control arm so I'll give it a shot if it's covered under warranty.

You got a good tech working on your problem. Most techs would just dismiss your complaint, or simply say “it’s normal!”
