CPO Warranty Question

Okay, this is mildly confusing. I bought a 2017 CX-5 CPO with 24,000 miles on the odometer. My understanding originally was that Mazda would extend the warranty 12months/12,000 from the date of purchase since mine was just out of warranty. So I'm thinking, okay cool I got one year extra and 12k extra for a total of 36,000 miles. Here is the confusion, I just got a letter from Mazda saying the CPO warranty expires 11/2021 OR total of 48,000 miles!?!

So is it 36,000 miles or 48,000 miles. Someone explain!

You didn’t say when did you purchase the car, and when was your CX-5’s first service date when new. The CPO warranty is additional 12 months or 12,000 miles after the 3-year / 36,000-mile new vehicle warranty is over. So if the first service date is 11/2017 for your 2017 CX-5, your CPO warranty should be ended on 11/2021 or 48,000 miles whichever comes first.

Your CPO warranty also has 7-year / 100,000-mile powertrain warranty including roadside assistance during the period. The whole CPO warranty is transferable too.

I think you accidentally hit the "10" key. It's 7 years. :)
Thanks for the correction. Yes it’s 7-year / 100,000-mile powertrain warranth on CPO and I had edited it in the post. But I have to admit, it doesn’t seem to be mis-hitting a “7” key, but it’s my mind which was thinking “10” years at the time ⋯
